Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
When asked about Sam Bennett, #Flames Bob Hartley called him a "tiger in a cage", saying that even though he wants to play, he's not close.

They would need to clear a roster spot for him to even play the 9 games. I don't see them doing that if everyone is healthy. If there are some opportune injuries then maybe....

I just wish he would have been healthy in time for the WJC, you just know he would have dominated. I hated seeing all the hype around Nurse and how the oilers have such a good young player in the system.

I hope Kingston does well with Bennett for the rest of the year.

Yep they have to. I agree the only way I see Bennett in the lineup is if someone is injured. Then if he impresses the Flames brass filling in for an injured player, then they might consider making the move. Otherwise he'll just practice with the team until he is a 100% healthy then send him back to OHL which is not a bad thing. Doug Gilmour giving him some more pointers.

Man I love Hartley's quotes...

And I can't wait to see how he does. I'm thinking he at least gets a conditioning stint in Addy to get a taste of the pros, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes straight to juniors as well.

It was such a letdown to see him looking so awesome in preseason to having surgery. Hope he picks up where he left off

I think someone on the Fan (Steinberg or Loubo) mentioned before that his comments aren't as spontaneous as people think. They suggested that he works on his material beforehand and busts it out at the appropriate time. Sign of a great showman!

I'd believe it. Hes dedicated to his craft.

Hes like Christian Bale in The Prestige.

I hope someone is storing these for a thick book of "Hartleyisms" to be published when Bob retires.

Now I'm picturing Bob at home with crumpled up balls of paper all over, trying to write clever lines.

I can't wait until he is physically ready to play for the Flames. I still believe he is the best player from that draft and was a steal at #4. I think he should head to the baby flames for conditioning and see how he does before they decide what is best for him.

None of us will know what kind of condition he is in once he has been cleared for practicing with the team. I believe in Hartley and co to deal with him appropriately after hearing what he had to say today. I trust them.

But I can't deny I am very excited!! I want a Bennett jersey but I don't know what number he will wear so I got a Monahan jersey at the last game and I love it!

I hope he can be the best player from this draft but Aaron Ekblad is making one hell of a case against that. He's 23 year old Drew Doughty good @18. Freaky that one is, I'll settle honestly for second to fourth best player in this draft and be happy.

Ok, fair enough. Ekblad is already a good player and it will be nice to watch him play on friday night, hopefully our guys can make him look more like Justin Schultz than Aaron Ekblad!

Just let this sink in for a moment:

The flames highest draft pick EVER has yet to play a game with the Flames and will likely make the team next year.

I am so pumped about next year and this year isn't even over yet.
