Providence wins 4-1. Jankowski with 1G/1A. His goal stands as the GWG.

lol it's just too much. Not a very good pick. A bad move to trade down from 14th to 21st, and a bad move to pick the player we picked. A poor prospect not trending up. Let's call a spade a spade.

Is that true, even in the slightest?

Trending up doesn't mean anything until he gets to the pro's, then we see what w have for real. As i mentioned in my previous post he could be scoring more than JH but suck when he gets to the baby flames. On the other hand he may not be setting the world on fire now but everything comes together later in his career, similar to Backlund.

Except that Backlund WAS a stud for the Kelowna Rockets and didn't seem to stagnate until he hit the NHL.

Yet he was not a stud on his national teams. If Backlund had come up on the same type of team Providence is his numbers would have suffered too. I am excited about Janks, at worse I think he anchors our 3rd line C position for years to come.

2 assists so far today. Providence is currently tied 2-2 after 2.
This brings him to 13 points in 16 games played (with a period still to go in game 16).

With 13 points in 16 games, he would be on pace for 32 points in 39 games based of last year's games played.
That would see his point totals rise by 7 from his first year to his second year to his third year. Steady progression.

Pretty studly to me.

Backlund played for Sweden in the 2006 World U18 Championships, scoring one goal in three games. In 2007 he led Sweden to a U18 bronze medal when he scored a natural hat-trick in an 8–3 win over Canada in the bronze medal game. He led the tournament in goal-scoring with six goals in six games.[16]
Backlund was a member of the Swedish team that won back-to-back silvers in the 2008 and 2009 World Junior Championships, losing to Canada in both instances. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the 2008 semi-final against Russia. The next year, he recorded a two-goal game in the semi-final against Slovakia.

Today's game has ended, and Jankowski finished with the 2 assists.
That gives him 5 points in his last 4 games, and 8 points in his last 8.

Anyone think he may turn pro next season?
I haven't read anything to suggest he might, but it would sure be nice to get him playing for Addy.

When would he need to commit? Could he or the Flames use development camp as a measuring stick and decide after that?

I believe he could sign at any time regardless.

Yea, I believe he could sign with the Flames right now, obviously that would mean he would no longer be NCAA eligible.
The Calgary Hitmen traded for Demko's rights, they are hoping he leaves school and joins them this season.

Bust if his point total doesn't increase by 100% year over year

So 13 pts in 16 so far. What's the magic number for us to be happy with his development so far? Can we get excited again at 13 pts on a defensive team? Or does it have to be 14/15/16 in 16.
I continue to be hopeful.

I think most people would like to see a PPG pace and then not need to debate mitigating factors like the defensive program

Every time I read this thread I am even more baffled by some 'fans' and their ridiculous expectations / lack of patience or understanding. Jankowski is progressing very well and I'm sure management dont view him the way some on here do. I bet Burke is excited about this kid.
Glad to see Janko is doing well

Number of point per game players in Hockey East right now? Six. Three of them play for Boston University (Jack Eichel and his two line mates). So there are a dozen teams in HE and only four of them have a PPG player on them. I would say that the expectation of a PPG is ridiculous and the player should be judged on his play and contribution. Jankowski is the anti-Baertschi. He gets attacked for continued positive improvement. Very strange.
