Not surprised Backlund and Byron are on the same line - those two play well together especially in a "holding" role.

per Hartley, Backlund will be a gametime decision, Raymond will go back in against the Wings

I assume this means he will be activated. Bye bye Granlund. Work hard and come back soon. P.S. Improve on faceoffs.

It's kinda strange how pretty much all of our size is in the 1st and 4th line, but I hope it turns out well for the Flames.
That being said, I can't wait until guys like Poirier, Wotherspoon, Ferland and Knight start cracking the lineup.

Backlund's return should be very beneficial to the penalty kill.

So it likes like Backlund starts on the 3rd line if he comes back.

Personally I don't think he has the team made... not very good on faceoffs and only so-so otherwise. Seems to have hit a plateau . I like the guy but I think others have more to offer. Sven (If he keeps things up), Ferland and especially Poirier will get the next opportunities depending on position of course.

By the Raymond standard Jones has in fact been lights out.
Raymond 0 goals 0 assists 0 pts in his last 13 games
Jones 3 goals 2 assists 5 pts in his last 14 games
Jones is just under 2 hits per game...... Raymond has 2 hits this season.

David Jones last 5 games: 0 points, -5,
Jones has 1 point in his last 10 games and went from 1st line duty to 4th line duty due to the quality of his play. If he doesn't need to sit for a game or two you'll need to explain it better than pointing out a comparison to Raymond who has clearly struggled and recently sat for 2 games of his own, but is due to re-enter the lineup.

Jones is the "type" of forward this offence needs (bigger forward presence), and has played very well for us and filled that role in stints this season. He's also been invisible for stints as well. He is currently in one of his invisible stints and therefore a view from the press box is probably the right move, see if one of our other inconsistent forwards in Raymond can add some value after watching for a little bit.

I'd rather have Backlund in between Gaudreau and Hudler. Hopefully These are just the lines until he shakes off any rink rust he might have.

Well we don't really want to slot Backlund in right away, keep in mind he's been out for almost 30 games. We'll probably see that line combo soon, but I definitely would not expect it tomorrow.

I would much rather have Jones spot taken by Ferland or Hankowski or even Knight.
Mason Raymond is closely becoming Setogouchish in his contribution... It is like he won the lottery and he can call it a career and still be young and healthy when he walks away in 2 and half more years.
I can't see that Raymond's example and how he plays the game and how Hartley is handling the situation can be a good example for the youngsters on the team. Right now, they like Raymond last year, have to go all out to establish themselves as legit NHLers..... I don't want them to slide when they get their 3 year 9M deal.
AV and the guys in Vancouver caught on the Raymond's style.
Would Raymond be playing better on a 1 year deal worth 1.5??? He definitely would not be any worse.
Jones has actually looked like he was trying and succeeding when he was approaching his last chance before a buy out.

To me, Jones was playing pretty good hockey for the Flames until he lost his spot on the top line with Colborne's return.
