Thanks, I added you... nickerjones10 is me, I know I'm real original. I have been playing for 40 mins and not having trouble. Just running around shooting stuff. The trouble is the constant beetle and vulture errors I'm getting.

Yeah, psn's sign in servers are still down. If you're in the game and manage to stay signed in, you're fine. But try to change your character or log out, and you're hooped.

I managed to get in early this morning and played a solid few hours before I tried to switch to my warlock. I'm now out of luck like most everyone else.

My friends banded together and convinced my girlfriend that it was the Xbox 1 that I wanted (as that is what they all have) so I am now listening to Peter Dinklage tell me what to do on Xbox 1.

Just hit 23 today. I'm a bit behind as I didn't start playing this till Christmas holidays as I had several other games I wanted to get through first.

I still know little to nothing about the progression of the game. Hopefully one of you PlayStation guys can walk me through a few things at some point.

I finally hit 23... and like Diemenz, I'm a total noob. Started playing with him this christmas. I know about light and stuff. But other then that, pretty lost. Was excited, got my first legendary drop, I'm a warlock... and it was for a titan

You'll just have to start a titan then! Your vault space is shared between characters, so just store the armor for when your titan hits 20.

You'll probably want to focus on gathering vanguard and crucible marks and commendations for the armor. Do this by trying to do all the available bounties, and then run the daily heroic mission, and the weekly. You can probably also run some strike playlists as well. Level up to 26-27 and run the first raid. The second, with the dlc will require you to be level 30.

Are those groups worth buying into. I think one is the dead orbit, the monarchy, and future war clan(?)

I noticed when you have them equipped all crucible and vangaurd rep goes to that group.

Also, how to you get commendations? and are they like currency? so if I need a commendation to buy some gear do I lose that commendation and have to earn another one?

What's the best way to get strange coins?

And is it true that you can only have so many exotics?

You get commendations when you gain a level of reputation with either the Vanguard or any of the Crucible factions. If you buy a piece of gear that requires a commendation, it is used up and you need to earn another one. They're not particularly difficult to get, just takes some time.

Best way to get Strange Coins is from the Weekly Strike. Sometimes you can get a handful from the Nightfall as well.

You can possess as many exotics as you have room to carry, but you can only have one exotic weapon and one piece of exotic armor equipped at a time. You can swap around weapons if you need to jump between, say, an exotic Primary and Secondary for different parts of a strike, so it's worthwhile to have backup legendary gear levelled up.

Quick tip about factions, marks:

Consider ensuring you level up your Vanguard rank to level 3 before ranking up a faction (FWC, New Monarchy, Dead Orbit). In order to buy good stuff from the vendors, you need to be level 2 or 3. It would be frustrating to get enough vanguard marks to buy a shiny new gun, only to realize that you have to grind away levelling up the reputation.

Vanguard marks, you can only earn 100 per week, and carry 200 max. So if you hit the 200 max, might as well spend them!

And this is an obvious tip for those that have played the game lots, but if you are still finding your way, listen up. You know how you have earn experience to level up your weapons and armour? The best way to earn experience to do daily bounties. But wait! You actually earn that XP when you cash in the bounties. So when in the tower, before walking up to cash in the bounties, swap out your fully levelled gear for some that could use the XP. Then cash in the bounties.

Note that you also get huge XP for missions (e.g. daily missions), and the weekly strikes. If you are really quick, you can kill the last guy for the mission, then quickly open up the menu and swap to your unlevelled gear. Sometimes you get a 2 or 3 second window before the mission is actually completed.

So again, this little trick should be obvious after a while, but if you are just getting into the game, this is hugely helpful to get the armour upgraded and the gun perks unlocked quickly.
