i think the biggest highlight for myself (and my wife) of 2014 was our little girl.
for those not familiar, here is what we/she has overcome in the first year and nine months of her life....
it took forever for my wife to get pregnant (to the point that we were seeing a dr. at a fertility clinic). our baby ended up being severely breached... the dr's didn't even consider a natural birth - they just scheduled a c-section. that was just the beginning though... once jordan was delivered we found out she had severe torticollis (due to being breach) and she didn't have hip sockets. she was immediately put in a pavlic harness for the next 8 or so weeks (the harness held her legs in a frogger/squat position, forcing the ball of the femur into the hips, forming a socket). once the harness came off we were able to work on the torticollis, not just to fix her neck, but we needed to strengthen her neck muscles becuz she needed to get a helmet to reshape her head (it was really wonky when she was born and then becuz of the restrictive movement due the to harness her head shape just got worse and worse). while this was going on we had to get physio on her legs to try to get them up to speed - they hadn't really developed at all due to the harness. we get thru those hurdles and then she gets her helmet. people would give us all kinds of looks when we'd go out with her - i would just tell them that we kept dropping her down the stairs and the helmet was for her protection - ha! ha! then she had eating issues and allergies - she out grew the allergies (thankfully) but the eating issues continued - she would puke every time we'd try give her 'real' food. off to see more specialists. that issue got resolved. her head was eventually fixed after about 5 months of wearing the helmet. i think the only other thing (right now) is with her feet - they are pronating. not a huge issue as this should be resolved with orthodics in her shoes until she is 5 or 6. so yea, she's had a lot of challenges, but we've got an awesome little girl who lights up any room she enters - and i'm just sooooo thankful for her!
this pic is from november....
and this one... well... we're doing what we can to bring her up right....

Isn't that a b***h? I just fell off the freakin wagon too. What's odd, it happened 2.5 months after I quit. Last time out I lasted almost a year.
However.....last time I fell off the wagon, I waited 4 years to try again. Not going to let that happen this time. We have a trip coming up in two weeks and I don't see the point in trying to start a new quit while on holidays. I WILL start when we get back though so help me God.

My dog (Ryley) earning his first obedience title (Rally Novice) and my wife for all the time and effort she put into training him.
Fyi: In order to earn a Rally Obedience title you have to obtain 3 qualifying scores of 70/100 or higher. Ryley obtained his title over a 3-day weekend where he scored 96/100 on the first day, 100/100 on the second day, and 96/100 on the third and final day. Out of all the Rally Novice competitors (15), he came 2nd on the first day, 1st on the second day, and 2nd on the third day. His perfect score on the second day earned my wife and Ryley a High in Class.

Life just kind of blurs together after a while, with each subsequent year being numbingly indiscernible from the last and one crushing defeat coming after another until you just wish Flanders was dead.

Incredible moment to brag of the incredible year I had...
But the fact I came back to be by my families side in 2014 when my mother had a successful kidney transplant, and I can now brag to people, that my mom was the 134th human to ever have both kidneys removed, and lived without those two little vital organs for over 6 months, and one year later is the healthiest she has been in over twenty years, is all I want to brag about.
Going into 2015 one very happy son.

Left the ambulance in Grande Prairie for a station closer to Calgary.
Started seeing an amazing lady.
Applied for paramedic school.
More strict about working out/eating better, and it's paying off.
Had a great trip to Boston/Philly/St. Louis to see family I hadn't seen in a while.
Overall, one of my better years.
