I don't agree with that call. Looks more like the USA player blew a tire.

If there's one thing this tournament has shown - this is a tournament for 19 year olds. Eichel and McDavid are supposed to be generational prospects and they lag behind the top older guys by a good margin.

Werenski has looked a lot better than Hanifin.

And you know how much the Flames like the 'skis.

It sounds as if he'd fit into the Flame's defensive system just fine:

Bill Placzek:
Quote:
A fine all-around defensive prospect who displays all the qualities necessary to progress as an NHL defender. He is very mobile player who passes thread the needle on tight breakout passes. Smartly activates into the attack with explosion causing matchup problems for the opposition. Smart and gifted point man who effortlessly walks the blue line to open lanes on the PP. Excellent lateral mobility on D. Closes down on the wall. He is going to need time and with improve gap control and hopefully add more aggression, using his big frame more. A member of his homeland’s team roster for the World Junior Under-20 at Christmas 2014.

i don't know, I'd find a way to trade up to #3 for Hanifin. That kid is going to be awesome. He's awesome right now. Love his skating and speed and hands and the bit of grit he has. Nearly perfect positionally too.

I am aware that he wasn't a late round steal or anything like that. Good pick by Detroit is what I meant and another addition to that prospect pool that Detroit seems to replenish regardless of where they draft. Although still early, I think he could turn out to be one of the better players in that draft and better than some of the higher touted picks taken ahead of him. He seems to have a good two way game, plays with intensity, drives to the net well and has a nice scoring touch. I really like his game.

One of the older players in his draft year (2016) I believe. I think he only missed the cut-off for this year by a few days.
