7 of the last 8 possible points. Great bounce back following the skid. Another big game on New Year's Eve. Go Flames!!!

Yes, Stajan deserves huge props for his defensive play. He had a really rough return from injury but the last 2 games he's been very noticeable in a good way

A win against Edmonton and suddenly, a horrific month becomes a month where we pick up nearly 50% of the possible points. HUGE 2 wins against LA

Only caught the end of the game. Really impressed with Monahan for a 2nd year player. He is on the ice for the games most critical moments already and doing a fine job at both ends of the ice. Thank you Carolina.

Monahan has tied his assist total from last year in 37 games less.
Progress!

I thought he's been great in his role since his Toronto game, but it wasn't gonna be as noticible on such a long losing streak where good play doesn't get rewarded.

Hey the Kings are the defending cup champs, and just generally trending up as the seasons goes on, so really they are one of the top 4 teams in the league IMO. Because of that, I don't mind at all being slightly outplayed but gutting out a win where your goalie provides some big saves and Gaudreau and Hudler make some highlight real playes to grab a win. That's how a team like Calgary has to get a win against the leagues best at this point

That was such an important win. Can't be overstated. Beating a top team on home ice by playing a sound defensive game is just what this team needed. They now know they can win if they play defense and stick to the game plan. Don't get rattled. Don't press too hard and give the puck away.
Hiller is back to his early season form. Not necessarily in god mode, but very good none the less.
Hudler had a very good game, but deserving of a mention was Matt Stajan who was a real leader in the defensive zone and had great energy all night. Really glad to have this version of Stajan back.

cant say that was the most exciting game I have ever seen, but we need a few of these.
Nice to see the team smother another team with D for two periods for a change. Last year cup winners to boot.
I miss Josh Jooris though. We need that forward going 110 percent throwing his body everywhere.
Good game boys, now its time for the Oilers!
Lets end the year on a positive note, pound them!

Hopefully LA is mad so they destroy Edmonton tomorrow in preparation for our game against Oilers Wednesday. I want an 8-0 NYE massacre.

This is my greatest hope. I've been invited to a NYE gathering at an Oilers fan's house and he's already bragged how he will be wearing his jersey for his team win.
I'm hoping to see a jersey tossed off a balcony by midnight.
