Spoonman! Come together with your hands!
Well, if it's as horrible as you all say, then I guess it's one of my guilty pleasures.
And yeah, NIN was AWESOME! Changed music. I won't say he created industrial, cause that's not true. Like a lot of people who are credited as the leader in a genre they did not create it. Nirvana did not create grunge. But Trent Reznor did change music. For the better in my opinion. Can't ask for much more.

No don't worry, a lot of guys on here love that song. We've argued about its merits on CP before.
But seriously, there's a spoon solo in that song. How can that even be likable?

Yes I also enjoy both Spoonman and Black Hole Sun. But I could see how hardcore Soundgarden fans wouldn't like it as much compared to other songs, and I think overplay has a lot to do with it. If your favorite band is only well known for what you consider to be a mediocre to bad song, it can irk a fan.
I mentioned Oasis earlier in the thread. They are my favorite band period. And even though Wonderwall is a good song and I like it, they have so many better songs that it infuriates me when Wonderwall (and sometimes Champagne Supernova) is really the only song that gets airplay. It's a good, even great song, but it bugs me that anyone who says they love Oasis usually only knows that song. So I can see why that would factor in.

Are there any other songs, rocksongs, that get regular play, that actually have someone playing the spoons? I think it's awesome and unique.

Interesting fact about an Oasis song. The song "Whatever" is sung along by almost every fan in the venue when they play in the UK, but it was actually a "bridge single", released on it's own between Definitely, Maybe and What's the Story Morning Glory.
I always though that was cool, but it's also funny that almost no one over here knows the song, unless they are big Oasis fans.

Actually it doesn't I am just ####ing around, cuz my motivation has disappeared.
Unlike many on here, I think you can/should listen to what you want/like.
Good music is subjective and in the ear of the listener.
Merry Christmas MattyC

Yeah I've only ever heard that song on live albums/dvds.
I would probably be in the majority if I lived in England. Funny how much more popular they are over there than here.
I think a similar thing would apply to JET. I really like them, but "Are you Gonna Be My Girl" is the only song other people know. It's catchy but it's probably one of their worst songs. I still like it, but most of their repitiore is much much better.

I was just playing too. I doesn't hurt my feelings if you don't like Oasis, nor does it make me dislike you.
We can all get along!
A Merry Christmas to you as well!

I'm pretty torn.
Smashing Pumpkins - Two monster albums that are absolute classics. Although as an entity today they are pretty irrelevant.
Pearl Jam - Killer live band, but I don't think I would ever sit around and listen to a Pearl Jam album.
Foo Fighters - also a killer live band. Wrote Everlong which is the best song out of the bunch of them. Albums are generally pretty uneven.
Also, Soundgarden sucks.

I'm with MattyC. Oasis was the best band of the 90's. Definitely Maybe is still crazy good.

Oasis is a divisive one for sure. Used to hate them so much I wanted to rip my ears off. Didn't help the Gallagher brothers were such asshats. But I've softened on them. I can appreciate the song writing now, even if its not my thing. But yeah, those who love em, LOVE EM! And those who hate em, hate em.

Oasis songs are generally fantastic, they're just sung by a whiny deltabravo. Wonderwall is a great song if you hear someone else sing it.

Loved the underground metal scene in the 90's. Bands like Annihilator and Rage (not rage against the machine, the German band Rage). Both had amazing guitarists and excellent songs but piss poor production.
As for 90's radio bands, I liked Alice In Chains (We Die Young and Would). Still remember treeplanting hippies taking over the bars with their plaid shirts listening to all of the Seattle bands in the early 90's. Pretty much knew metal was dead then.

As far as Britpop goes I'd say Pulp >>>>> Oasis > Blur. Different Class is a pretty well named album since it really is a different class. As far as metal goes at least we got 1990 and some classic Death albums. Nine Inch Nails were terrific live when I saw them, The Fragile is really overrated but Downward Spiral is great. And I figured I'd throw in Kyuss is awesome again, Kyuss is still better than most of the bands mentioned in this thread.

Most? How about all, saw them live and they were absolutely amazing. Their music is classic. Better upon repeated listening than Black Sabbath and Metallica and better live than both. Absolutely love Kyuss. Their live show is up there with Tool.
