Norderby day! Starts in just under 2.5 hours. Werder is missing Di Santo which will hurt but hopefully they can pull it out!

Some classic derby moments:

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the end of the line for Jürgen Klopp. They are losing to Frankfurt today (0-2 with about 5 minutes to go) and will now be dead last in the standings because both Bremen (4-0 vs Paderborn) and Stuttgart (4-1 vs Freiburg) won their games this weekend. Personally I think Klopp is a brilliant coach, but it's obviously not working anymore in Dortmund.

13. Hertha BSC 13 4 2 7 17:23 14
14. Werder Bremen 13 3 4 6 18:26 13
15. SC Freiburg 13 2 6 5 14:20 12
---------------------------------------------
16. VfB Stuttgart 13 3 3 7 18:27 12
---------------------------------------------
17. Hamburger SV 13 3 3 7 7:17 12
18. Borussia Dortmund 13 3 2 8 14:21 11

Yeah, Klopp's magic has disappeared in Dortmund (aka Lewandowski leaving). I expect him to end up in England next year and if that is the case I'll have an English club to follow

Doesn't help that Reus is made of glass since his ankle injury

yeah, but

Weidenfeller; Durm, Ginter, Subotic, Piszczek (Ramos); Bender, Kehl (Gündogan); Großkreutz, Kagawa (Jojic), Mkhitaryan; Aubameyang.

is still a great team with quality that shouldn't lose 2-0 to Frankfurt, especially when the season is one the line.

This thread needs a bump, if only because Hamburg is, for now anyway, out of the drop zone! NUR DER HSV!

With our next two games being away to Freiburg and home to Stuttgart, we'll need to keep collecting points to cushion ourselves. Keep that clock running, eh cheevers?!

Are the Germans doing anything similar to this?

Hamburg is starting to play up to where their talent level suggests they should be. It is the 2nd best rivalry in all of Germany so hopefully Werder can stay up and keep it going and we see them fighting at the top of the table some day soon.

It is interesting though that for as big of a disaster as BVB's season has been they are only 9 points out of the Champions League spots. Should they buy a striker who can actually convert in January and get even a little bit healthy I think they will mount a challenge on top 4. In fact the entire table is close outside of top spot. The only solid final results that I see at the moment is Bayern winning the title and Wolfsburg getting top 4.

What's number 1? Schalke/Dortmund? Bayern/Dortmund?

Schalke/Dortmund is definitely number 1, I always felt that Bayern/Dortmund was more of convenience. Every team has a rivalry with Munich, that is what happens when the league is a monopoly. But it always changes who is the main rival based on who is successful at the time, be in Bremen in the early 2000s or Mönchengladback and Hamburger in the 70s/early 80s.

I think there is a bitterness from Dortmund having lost a top player to Munich the last two seasons but no more than what other teams have had to deal with. Just my opinion of course (except Dortmund/Schalke being the number one rivalry, that is just a fact of life).

Robben saves it at the death.

Bayern are really hurting and their depth is being sorely tested, Mainz should have been a bit of a cakewalk.

Huge 2-1 win for Werder at home to Dortmund, Selke continues to impress. And BVB are firmly in the relegation race.

The Klopp era has to end now, they simply can't go on like this. Between Klopp and the club, it almost seems like both sides are waiting for the other one to finally make the decision. If they continue to stay together just for the sake of it and because they were successful years ago, they will be relegated.

I dont even know what to say, BvB are in full on freefall. They've got to do something. Being in this kind of slump is hard, but if they do anything it will likely be in the off-season.

Flames suck, BvB sucks, just waiting for the next round of Euro qualifiers for Poland to choke it's 1st place away and the full collapse of all of my favorite teams will be complete...

At least Canada is always bad...

Borussia Dortmund have now signed midfielder Kevin Kampl from RB Salzburg. Being from Salzburg and having seen Kampl play here for two and a half years, this makes me very happy. A gifted player that should help them immediately.
