Car starter. Question

I bought a used truck and it has a car starter. The starter function isn't work working but the lock/unlock and panic buttons work. It's a 4 button remote with lock unlock. Then a red and blue button. Red is panic. Blue I guess is start but they're worn down


Is there someplace I
Can take these to have them checked if the starter still works?

There are a few places that specialize in remote starters.

Autotemp & Quinn are a couple I know of. Would likely be a fairly simple diagnosis for them I would think.

Any idea what brand it is? Might want to figure that out to make sure wherever you go deals with it.

That's the problem. The buttons are so worn I don't know what brand it

I think I'll try future shop if they don't know ill try auto temp or Quinn

I'd bypass your first step and just go straight to AT or Quinn. I've got one in the NE that was quite good when I had mine installed and subsequently serviced on my Jimmy. I'd have to dig up the name though it was a few years ago.

Try holding you lock and unlock button at the same time and see if that works. You may have to hold it for about 3-5 seconds.

I would love to get a new starter installed. Prices around town seem a little crazy.

Are you sure it has a starter and the blue button isn't just for trunk release? Hahaha
(assuming you're one of those people who use the word 'truck' for SUV's too)

its an f150 so nope no trunk

whn I hold the blue button the dash light flashes like its trying to start but nothing happens. the headlight flashes once as well.


I'll see if somewhere close to home can take a look, if not i'll call the other places in new year. I think from reading it might be stuck in valet mode but I dont' know what kind of starter it is to search how to get it out
