So cower in fear over some hackers of a backwater nation half a world away defending a petty dictator's ego? I say screw them and watch the movie...

For once North Korea is doing us all a favour by keeping this film out of theaters.

WTF is with the Seth Rogan hate? SuperBad was one of the funniest movies ever. He's made some duds, too, but there is a place for his type of movies. This is the End was awesome. Knocked Up was kind of funny.
Anyway, this whole thing with NK is nucking futs. If my kid worked at a theater and there were threats against the theater, you can bet I wouldn't want them standing up to a North Korean dictator by showing some stupid movie. It's not hard to see why theaters wouldn't want to put themselves at any risk for this movie. It sucks, but terrorism and threats work. Always have and always will.

This is the end might be one of the worst movies ever made.
So have we all agreed we are just ignoring the department of homeland security saying there is no viable threat and continuing to carry on fear mongering? I like that plan best.

Absolutely loved This Is The End, and was so looking forward to this movie too. It's a shame I can't watch it on Boxing Day. Ah well, I'm sure I'll eventually be able to see it somehow.

Pretty ironic that a country that looks like this at night, can use computers to bring a mega corporation like Sony to its knees.

It's funny you bring this up. North Korea's hackers are actually hosted in Chinese hotel across the boarder because the NK's infrastructure is too poor to handle their hacking efforts.

Hate for Seth Rogen is nuts here too... Sure he produces some really bad movies, but this should have any bearing on what is going on now.

I'm a Seth Rogan fan and it saddens me that they catered but I imagine someone high up at Sony may have received some death threats or something of that nature as I highly doubt that there would be theatre bombings of any sort. This does definitely set a bad precedent if Sony did it just because they were being hacked.

What does it matter who the actors were or what kind of movie it was? That's not the issue here and shouldn't be the subject of discussion.

US intelligence officials confirm North Korea was responsible.
Quote:
WASHINGTON — American officials have concluded that North Korea was “centrally involved” in the hacking of Sony Pictures computers, even as the studio canceled the release of a far-fetched comedy about the assassination of the North’s leader that is believed to have led to the cyberattack.
Senior administration officials, who would not speak on the record about the intelligence findings, said the White House was debating whether to publicly accuse North Korea of what amounts to a cyberterrorism attack. Sony capitulated after the hackers threatened additional attacks, perhaps on theaters themselves, if the movie, “The Interview,” was released.

Thank you Captain Obvious, I could have told you that from the broken English and sentence structure they used. Queue the white house petition to have the movie shown.

Affinity for stoner movies are a personal preference, but the genre tends to be polarized. Some people love them, some people hate them, but there are few people in between.
For instance, 'This is the End' may not have been the worst movie of all time (Spiderman 3) but its in the conversation. Its been a long time since I've watched a movie and been completely awed by its complete lack of any redeeming qualities whatsoever.
I imagine when critics first screened that movie that they proceeded to kick Franco and Rogen square in the nuts for wasting time out of their lives.
That said, thats not really the point here, the point here is about whether or not Sony should be backing down over these threats.
In truth they probably should. If the threats are real, which is obviously up for debate, then the risk vastly outweighs the rewards and realistically, Sony should have known that well before they greenlit the movie in the first place.

I am more of the opinion that putting minimum wage workers in theatres at risk over a movie just isn't worth it.
Until they neutralize the threat, they need to be concerned with the health and safety of their employees..
Also, I like most of Seth Rogan's work, but he has some real stinkers. I had the misfortune of watching The Guilt Trip a while back.
Pineapple Express and Zack and Miri were really funny IMO. I also thought he was really good in Knocked Up, Take This Waltz and Funny People.

Seth Rogan and the whole Judd Apatow crew get a pass for life simply because they created a new style of comedy when 40 Year Old Virgin, Superbad and Knocked Up came out. 3 Movies in a row that each became my favorite comedy after seeing it.
Anyone that contributed to the death of slapstick and that whole Jim Carey style and also Adam Sandler brand of comedy is good in my books.

This thread needs more Seth Rogen love. This movie doesn't look the greatest but I find the guy hilarious and very likable
Sane for Franco, even though he's a weirdo

If Hitler and Stalin were alive today they probably would have made war threats about the Lord of the Rings.

Yeah This is the End wasn't just a good movie because I like stoner movies. It was a good movie because it was entertaining, unique, well made, told a good story and was funny.
