Actually, the picks between 4-16 are all going to be good and fairly interchangeable this year. So unless we can get a top 3 pick, it's all the same to me.

4-16 aren't really interchangeable..you will very likely get the better prospect at 4.

Completely thin on D. Brodie comes out average to below average in this six game stretch and it's hurt us so much. It's way to tough for a team to rely so much on 2 guys to have the value of 4 out there every night. It's more obvious when either Brodie or Giordano have off nights than any other player on this team.

I am enjoying this team still. They have exceed all expectations for me. I went into the season ready to watch these guys grow as a team and watch this rebuild. A side from this game which was quite frustrating they have been good. They really need to start hitting the net. We are still above .500 and we are still in the mix for a wildcard. The worst part of this slide is we have to hear how right the advance stats are. I hate that.

Just back from the game tonight. Hard to watch.
My takeaways: - Russell had an abysmal game - numerous giveaways in front of the net.
- The Flames - pretty much every one in turn - got pushed off the puck too easily.
- They got - not schooled, but certainly outsmarted - by an older, more experienced and more patient team.
- Lundqvist, though not outstanding, was steady, great when he had to be, and quite focused. Ramo looked uncomfortable right from the first goal out. I'm surprised Hartley didn't pull him shortly after it - he seemed out of position, unsure of his plays and just never seemed in the game.
- As a group, the team was unaware. Too much thinking, too much overhandling of the puck, too much piddling around in their feet. And their passing was, mostly, poor.
- Monahan looked a bit lost, Jooris and Colborne both worked their butts off. Johnny was....OK. Hudler was steady and fun as always.
Oh yah - and the beer place was out of Keith's Red before the end of the first period. Wow, that just really set the night on edge for me.

Look at the scouting reports. The reports have players listed at 4 on one list and 16 and lower on others, and they are similarly mixed up all the way through. And they are all quality. The only difference is if there is a single player you are targeting, which I doubt is the case, they may or may not be gone.

Yea, to be fair, I haven't paid a ton of attention to anyone after the top 3. Although, ive heard some good things about Strome/Barzel/Kylington.

Such a frustrating game. Flames were pretty dominant territorially at the outset but of course, one break the other way and bam!
Then they appear to finish the period with 45 seconds of fantastic penalty killing, including 3 scoring chances and what happens? The Rangers dump it in with 10 seconds left and Russell tries to push it to Ramo for a whistle - which is the worst play in hockey. Turn around and dump it out for christsake.
Just like that, down 2-0 to a really strong defensive team, despite a really solid period.
Worst possible scenario for a team on a losing streak.

Something is definitely wrong with our defense. Giordano was practically invisible the whole game (I wonder if he's been playing though an injury or sickness). Brodie was more visible but not at his better game. And this is our top D-pair. Engelland and Diaz have not been useful at all today. The team cannot go anywhere far with the defense this weak. Even though Ramo was really bad on the second goal, the number of clear, unopposed shots on him throughout the game was mind-boggling. At least four times in the attack zone, the puck went back to the blue line with no Calgary defenseman waiting for it. Sometimes, a loss is bitter but the game was close. This one was not. Not happy at all about it.

Wish we had called up Wotherspoon.
Id rather see him play instead of Diaz.
Although, id rather see Wotherspoon play in the AHL as opposed to be a healthy scratch like Potter.

I do as well but It may be best for him as defensemen take longer to get up to speed. Diaz had has been better than Russell in the last few. I know he had limited ice but was not a liability. What ever is going on with Russell he needs to get it worked out. I think at least 2 of the 3 alternate captains need to be stripped so they can just focus and play.
Rather see Wideman with the A .

Barzal is an example. He was ranked 10 on the last mock draft I saw. McKenzie had him at 7. Another one had him at 9. Another at 4.

Russell and Wideman were painful for me to watch. The defense even bumped Ramo and helped a goal against. Mishandled the puck and sleepy. Still, better than the Oilers.

Yea, that's why I really want a legit number 3 guy to pair with Russell or Wideman and allow the other to help out our bottom pairing.
Hopefully we are on the look.

Well, for me personally, no matter what happens this season I will be 'happy'. I thought the Flames were very much in the McDavid sweepstakes this season - even with their culture change that we saw last season. They have vastly exceeded my own personal expectations, and I have loved every second of every win. Definitely a wonderful season so far as a fan.
If they fall off the face of the earth, well, this is a good draft so the silver lining this year is a bit brighter than in most years. I look at this season as a 'win-win' - though I would prefer actual NHL wins and some playoff hockey.
As long as the Flames don't lose their hard-working culture, and as long as Treliving doesn't make any panic moves (very doubtful he would), then I will consider this season a win. Players will further develop, more vets are getting pushed out by rookies making a difference, and this team as a whole will be getting more skilled.
As for the skid they are in, I think it is painful, but almost necessary. Skids happen to even very good teams. Players need to learn to go through them. Players need to feel the pressure of winning and losing as part of their development I think. Without some adversity, players (and practically everything in this world) don't grow strong enough. If you constantly water your vegetable patch every day, your plants will not 'learn' to push their roots deep down into the earth. Later, when you are maybe not there during a heat wave to constantly water them, they will shrivel up and die. They youth on this team is learning to dig deep and live with that pressure of holding their sticks too tightly, wondering when they will get through this. When they eventually do, they will be stronger players for it.
It is always painful to watch, but stretches like these are often needed as a catalyst for more progression. I doubt it lasts much longer, and I can see the Flames go on just as long of a win streak as their current losing streak when they finally do break that dam.
I am not concerned because the Flames have not been outplayed and completely dominated in any game during this streak. The Flames are NOT the Oilers.

So frustrating seeing our great scoring chances go back the other way and end up in our net, over and over the last 6 games. Granlund hitting the post and then Rangers coming back and scoring on that rush was the key point in this game. I think it was the third goal.

Ramo can't give up 4 goals on 13 shots. Totally unacceptable. I'd ride Hiller for a while.
The worst part of this losing streak is that the Flames are playing well, which makes it even more annoying that we haven't managed a single point.
