To clarify, he's only not allowed to participate in "team events' (ie. practices, etc.) TSN stated that he still is allowed to access facilities, trainers, etc. though TSN stated that the league threatened to pull that after this stunt.

This really bothered me. I lost a lot of respect for Dean Lombardi and Darryl Sutter over letting Voynov out on the ice with the team. He's suspended for a very, very serious reason and it's deeply upsetting that they would think that letting him out with the team was in any way appropriate.
I was a fan of the Kings, I am no longer.

The evidence makes it clear why this is so much different than the Varlamov case

Yep, that's a career ender. Deport him. That's ridiculous. I said before I would hope there would be a way to keep his career going in the NHL while re-educating and learning from this but yeah, that's pretty bad.

I know, Innocent until proven guilty, but......
The fact that this son of a ##### gets to have a beautiful wife, plus a dream job, more money than anyone needs and this is what he does with his gifts?
What an idiot. Hopefully he gets thrown in jail for 10 years or so. That way he loses his wife (which hopefully he already did) and his career.

No - that means he's a big guy compared to his wife.
I'd rather keep him in the US, because I imagine his wife gets more in the inevitable divorce than in Russia, where what he did may not even have resulted in charges.

Can the NHL stop giving LA preferential treatment and make his salary count towards the cap?

Pretty sure he means that a 6 foot/200 pound man would have a hell of a kick/punch on another person, let alone his wife.

This explains the $100,000 fine by the NHL.
Sickening. I can't come up with anything more then sickening.
Far different then the Varlamov situation where the officers noted small bruising on the complainant.

If those allegations are indeed true his career should be over pretty quickly.

Dean Lombardi's self-indulgent tripe from mid-November is appropriate now:
https://twitter.com/petbugs13/status/534754306780450816
"Quite frankly, I'm beyond caring about reinstatement or cap relief," Lombardi said. "My biggest concern is that if he is charged with a felony, this one incident could jeopardize Slava's entire career."

Honestly, the Kings *should* be relieved of Voynov's cap hit. And I say that in full mind of Lombardi's idiotic comments just posted.
From a cap perspective, this should ultimately be little different than how LTIR is treated. Unless you think the Kings as an organization, and the other players on the roster, deserve to be punished as well for the actions of one individual?

Just the rules aren't made out like that.
This would only happen for the Kings, Chicago, or Pittsburgh. I have a hard time believing the NHL would be so lenient if Voynov played for Calgary.

After hearing the details, that should be the end of Voynov in the NHL. That's felony assault, and should include jail time/deportation.
