Listening to ched and the Oilers media need to give their head a shake. The talk they have way more talent than calgary is a fallacy. Our D has much more talent and our forwards are equally as skilled.

Can someone provide notes on the press conference for those that can't watch? Would very much appreciate it!

Media Conference Notes:

"I had no good reason to do this outside of performance"

Todd Nelson (OKC Coach) will be associate coach and will meet in Phoenix. He will be transitioning the job over to Nelson.

Nelson will be the coach by season's end. He will give duties to Nelson over the rest of this year.

Compounding of losses have emotional toll on organization and especially coaching staff. They got no traction after losses so Eakins was fired.

MacTavish has completely autonomy with the hockey club. Decision to fire Eakins was solely his. Made decision based on what was appropriate to the team.

It is not in anyone's DNA to talk about tanking for McDavid. Draft status had no bearing in decision.

MacTavish has blood on his hands for his roster. Doesn't solely blame Dallas for job that he did. Group had a long way to go and feels Eakins brought them a significant distance. Gave them maturity to have success. Compounding of losses left him to fire him.

Will see if group has strong enough work ethic. Mentioned these core pillars 10 days ago. Not going with complicated message to group. Needs to bring foundation of 80's teams back to team. Level of accountability needs to be improved.

Todd Nelson is taking over currently, MacTavish will transition team to Todd's control in not so distant future. Nelson will take over coaching on interim basis. Will be assessed to see if he can drive performance. Will not speak about him being coach further then this year.

Everyone in organization continues to be evaluated. It's not a coaching issue. He will be evaluated, as will scouts.

No other moves to coaching staff to announce. Dallas' assistants he brought in will stay.

Message to the players will be similar as to message given by all previous coaches. 100% on the players to play the brand of hockey needed to win at this level. It's not leaps and bounds, but some changes need to be made in players mindset and competitiveness to turn losses into wins.

Will continue to make changes to message will be rooted and things will turn around.

Feels accountability was fine. Dallas was supportive and tough on the group. Good person in the game. Did what he needed to do with this group.

None of Eakin's recent coaching decision had any impact on the firing. Eakins was fired due to team performance, not his.

Gerry Fleming will take over the OKC Barons.

MacTavish will not put timeline on his time in coaching. Will leave when he feels that Nelson can take over the job. He wants to help Nelson transition group. Wants his hands on the group as well.

Will not answer a question about digging into group and breaking up core. Has a good understanding of what's happening, but wants ample opportunity for conversations with group before making any moves.

**Cut off questions due to technical difficulties**

He's a great coach, but his performance is the sole reason you fired him?

What the hell are you talking about?

A week of losses changed his mind (since the last press conference)...after 18 months of wallowing in the same #### show.

In fairness, performance alone was a pretty damn good reason.

No traction since the last presser? So he thought the press conference was going to make a difference in results?

I get the feeling like most sequels, this presser won't be as good as the original. But feel free to step it up a notch Mac T
