Stephen Whyno @SWhyno
Canada's final cut today is Remi Elie. Roster stands at 25: 15 forwards, 8 defencemen, 2 goalies. Klimchuk, Baptiste, Sanheim, Bigras cut.

Mark Masters @markhmasters
Morgan Klimchuk: "Obviously when you leave early it's pretty upsetting, pretty frustrating"
Klimchuk: "They said I had a pretty good camp ... pretty deep at forward, that's what they said at the meeting"
Klimchuk said just being invited to the camp was "honour in itself"

Good attitude. Which is all you can really ask for.

Surprised by Klimchuk, Hope Point can hang in there! There must be some serious scoring talent there.

I am guessing there is a massive disconnect between his statement above and the tone of his text messages to his dad......

Would have loved to see Klimchuk there because it's always fun watching a Flames prospect in such a high profile but in the end the World Juniors and being on this roster means little in the way of development.

I still remember Dustin Boyd being the only worthwhile prospect in the Flames system and the hype he got from the world jrs. That went well

Kind of surprised at Klimchuk being cut but I guess he just doesn't have the gaudy numbers required. He fit in well with McDavid and Reinhart in the under 18s.

What kind of ceiling does Klimchuk have? Nick Hagman? Chris Higgins?

From what little I've seen Klimchuk he is good at all aspects of the game, just not great. He seems to play a very mature game as well.

Good 2nd liner, great third liner, bit of a tweener. Could easily see him scoring 20+ goals and 50 points on some good years, settling in to 15 goals and 40+ points in other years. A relied upon two-way and PK player.

A higgins type, good 3rd liner, 2nd liner on a weak team.

Not surprised he was cut, but he had a goal in each of the games.

sucks he was cut, but he was also cut along with some really good players. Still think he can be a good, effective middle 6 type guy. Ive thought he could have the type of stat line that of Glencross, but with a bit more gumption to his game

Only a handful of guys who actually make the team will ever score 50 points in the NHL.

Yeah, and I think in a couple good seasons Klimchuk can be one of those guys.
