In theory a line like Colborne - Monahan - Stewart would have a lot of potential. The only problem is the theory relies on Stewart playing to a potential that may not even exist anymore.

That is the question, does he still have it and can he be motivated? Power forwards can have a short shelf life although I don't know if he's had any serious injuries or anything re-occurring.

Setoguci sure, but I think I'd like to see just a tad bit more of Smith before jettisoning him off this early. Seto and Ramage works for me.

We need better 5-6 d-men. Not a lazy forward. Hrudey demolished Stewart.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Avalanche connection with the some of the Flames staff is the driving force behind it though. Goulet and Cloutier where both with the Avs when Stewart made his NHL debut and IIRC Feaster said they were consulted before the Jones trade.
|
Jamie Pringle was also an assistant coach in Kingston when Stewart played there. There's a few guys with a read on Stewart. No harm in looking into a big RW that could really pay off. Treliving seems like the type to take his time and do his due diligence. If there are major red flags, they would know and it would be a calculated risk. My bet is other teams pursue him more aggressively.

Not sure if you're trying to make a point, but whatever it may be doesn't matter since Hayes wasn't interested in signing here.

Want trying to make a point. Just watching him play right now and he's the size and skill we're lacking right now

No offence to Treliving. But he signed Engelland to a stupid deal and wasted to get Bollig's stupid contract. Not sure why he has a bunch of credibility that he won't waste assets for another big player that isn't worthwhile.
I am not even against picking up Stewart if the cost is low. I just don't see where people think he is immune to bad deals and is just doing appropriate due diligence.

You'd give up a freshly drafted 2nd rounder for Stewart?
What?

Freidman probably just mispronounced "Karl Alzner"...
You know, a player the Flames desperately need, rather than a player the Flames may or may not even dress.

We have Ferland. Don't need Stewart. Unless it's to get to the cap floor.

The only way the Flames trade Reinhart to Buffalo is if the return package includes their 2015 first round pick.
To Buffalo:
Reinhart + Baertschi + Stajan + one of(Setoguchi or Bollig)
To Calgary:
Chris Stewart + 2015 First Round pick + non-top 4 big d-man (that can skate, preferably)
Git the truck going, Tre!

Setoguchi and a 3rd?
Bollig and Diaz?
Unless we're sending some garbage back the other way I'm not interested

We've already got a guy that plays a big man's game. His name is Michael Ferland.

You can have multiple players that play that way on a team
