Just a few days after MacT was going on about how the development of their players was the most important issue for that franchise.
Nothing but a circus side show organization.

Oilers close the gap to 1. I am actually cheering for them now... I do not want to watch McDavid playing in our division for those bloody losers for a decade.

Burned a year off of Leon's entry level deal for nothing. Shameful.

I'll make a bet now he won't be considered even top 15 in his draft within 5 years. Horrible prospect management

Well, the Oilers management expected Leon to step in and be Anze Kopitar this season, so they are frustrated at him for not instantly being one of the top players in the NHL (MacT said something like this in the interview at the draft)

Is it true they're not releasing him for the WJHC?

Doesn't sound like it. This is from the Edmonton Journal today:
Quote:
And while Draisaitl, who has been playing an average of 13 minutes a game for the Oilers as the No. 2 or No. 3 centre, won’t be heading for Toronto and Montreal to represent his home country of Germany, he has seen the likes of Jumbo Joe Thornton and Logan Couture in the middle for the Sharks and Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler at centre for Anaheim the past four games — maybe not matched against them, but it’s been educational, nevertheless.
“This is a learning curve, for sure, and it’s very useful playing against those players,” said Draisaitl, who has played twice in the world juniors already. “I’d rather be here for sure. This is the NHL, this is my dream.

Why let him play in the WJC if you can just let him sit on the bench in the NHL and watch pros play? I mean, it's all about development in Edmonton.

That is such incredibly inept player development. That has to be a mandate from on high, no? I just can't see anyone with even a rudimentary hockey background thinking this is ok. The poor kid is just drowning

He had the 3rd lowest ice time among forwards tonight. They are clueless.

It is most likely coming from Lowe, and it is most likely because Draisaitl isn't Canadian. Lowe is the kind of clown that would restrict one of his own players to screw another country's roster, even if it is only Germany.
