The Passionate Eye is playing some crazy Bush 'documentary' on channel 15. Started at 11pm, I think it ends at 1am.

Looks pretty shocking, watch it if you can.

Whoops! There's the comparison between the Bush administration's public relation's machine and the Nazi one. Hitler, Georing, Goebel's named!

I can't believe our government is funding this. Pretty biased stuff.

Sweet!

It wasnt funded by our government. It was made by a French company.

The World According to Bush is directed by award-winning French director William Karel (Dark Side of the Moon), and produced by Agnès Vicariot Jean-François Lepetit. It is a Flach Film Production in association with France 2.

Ah. Well, our government network is airing it, that's some level of support.

It'd be crazy if there were repercussions.

Airing it is supporting it? What are you talking about? Maybe the CBC is offering a point of view?

Sry, maybe I wasn't clear, I'm talking about the documentary on channel 15.

I'm trying to look at it from an American point of view.

You think the Americans (or the Bush administration) will respect it from that angle? I don't think they see the CBC the same way we do.

At least, I doubt it, regardless of your views.

Wow, grab the tin foil hat. I seriously doubt the Americans could give a rats ass what the CBC is playing at 11pm Sunday night.

Yeah, sorry, just thinking out loud.

Didn't mean to offend your sensibilities. I thought it was an intriguing angle that (from a US point of view) a Canadian government station was playing a distinctly anti-Bush point of view on the 'eve' of the election.

Just thought it was interesting is all.

To be fair to the Canadian gov't, I don't think they would have actively sought to make an anti-Bush documentary. CBC gets the funding from the government but has the freedom to air what they want. I doubt the government even knew about it. As well, I'm sure the person who made the documentary made it independently and just brought it to the CBC to have it shown.

I know that the CBC is 'independent' from government control (though there are people here who will tell you they're a mouthpiece for the Liberals, I don't really know/care about it).

The point I was trying to make, and said, was that it's an interesting time/place for this kind of piece in relation to the US election. From an American's point of view, who doesn't have the same type of view of the CBC as we do (their concept of public broadcasting is PBS) they could see it as a government mouthpiece. It's not a stretch from a foreign angle by any means. Why would you think they have the same concept of the CBC as you do?

Synopsis: Pretty freaking crazy. The 'documentary' is slightly slanted against Bush, commenting early about his drug-using/alcohol-imbibing/party-harding days. Talks about his religious experience that turned him from those and towards power.

Dwelled for quite a while on the religious aspects of the administration, especially the President and Ashcroft. Then talked a lot about Carlisle group, Wolfowitz vision for a new Middle East, Saudi/Bin Laden connections, Hans Blix (and his character assasination by the US government), WMD's (or lack thereof, naturally), and, of course, Halliburton.

All in all, any Republican who saw this would sh*t. Liberals, rejoyce.

I hate Bush, so I thought it was pretty cool. Basically WAY more factual than F9/11, way better interviewees (fmr CIA directors, operatives, administration officials, etc.). Also allowed the other side to be interviewed (mostly Richard Perl), though it is guilty of some Mooreism's.

All in all, a good flick. If it plays on the Passionate Eye again, I heartily recommend it. Don't know what it's called though, find out for yourself!

Or, you could click the link I included above and find out the name of the Documentary and when it airs again.
