Kind of expected this with the new bodies back into the lineup. Played well regardless, but not consistently enough.

Gaudreau should have buried that 1st period chance!

He hasn't been bad, he hasn't been "not good", he's been Paul Byron...a player better than expected and filling a solid role on the team.

No, he was playing great for the first 15-18 games, getting chances, skating hard, etc.

He has not been doing that at all lately.

listening to toronto radio fan590 post game (Stelleck and Osborne) and the Flames are getting a lot of love. They really can't believe what they saw. Especially that 3rd period with the defensemen rushing everywhere.

I'm glad to see that the effort was there in the first and third. We can't let the 2nd period issues become a trend. We had the same problem against the Sharks.

I only got to see the first, listened to the second (yuck) and got to listen to junior high bands instead of hearing the third.

From I saw was that if Johnny scored, it's a whole different game. And he was the best player on the ice in the first, give or take a Gio. Scary when Gio went into the boards. I thought Stajan played a hard physical game and was dangerous in the offensive zone in the first. Bernier was very good. Whole different game if he doesn't steal the first.

I think Monahan's line is better at shutting down big sized number one lines than small speedy ones. When Backlund comes back maybe they match him and some skating defensive wingers against those types.

Yeah, Stajan played very physically tonight. In fact, he had a team-leading 7 hits (I thought he was credited with 2 hits too many but the point stands), which surprised me.

It seemed like after he got belted into the sideboards by Trevor Smith, he really started pushing back after that point and willingly threw some hits after that, and even knocked a couple of Leafs down with bodychecks.

Frustrating night.

Johnny finishes needs to be more clinical. And sometimes he and Hudler passes the puck one time too many.

Forget about this one and move on! Go Flames go!!

No shame in losing to a red hot team like the Leafs.

Really liking Jooris. Seems like he misses on 2-3 golden set-ups a game.

Have to wonder if Backlund would make a positive difference on that line. Still, Jooris is looking like a pretty good, young NHL center.

That Byron pass tho....

God damn Gaudreau is a treat to watch. He's going to be real real good for the Flames in the future.

Anyone else notice the TSN guys gushing about Gaudreau pretty much the entire game? I can't remember the last time they've spent so much time talking about a flames player.

It's not like they'll compliment the Leafs. Lots of time for Flames compliments.

I think this was Brodie's worst game of the year but there were a lot of guys that didn't bring it tonight.

The comebacks have been thrilling but we've got to come out stronger.

Still hoping for a .500 road trip...

You know what would be great? Engelland in the press box. Permanently.

Just got back from work and watched the game on the PVR. Granlund's best game as a flame. Hope he starts getting more PP time as he has great hands. He was nuts in the third. Hope he continues to play like that. Ferland was good and physical. Gaudreau also was great and obviously Bernier stole that game but it was nice that Gaudreau got to show off his skills to the Leaf faithful.

Actually liked the Ferland-Granlund-Raymond line a lot even though they only had a couple of shifts together. Jooris and Hudler and Gaudreau looked good as well.

Engelland was brutal. I remember last year when Wotherspoon came in and he had really nice chemistry with Smid, maybe they can bring him back up and put Diaz on waivers and send him down to the AHL. Smid looked good last season with Wotherspoon and they can't be any worse than Engelland.

Hiller had a couple of nice saves and played a lot better than his last couple of games. At this point the issue seems to be our bottom d pairing and I'd like Treliving to admit his mistake and see if he can trade Engelland out. Might be hard though with Engellands contract.

Other than that, really enjoyed the game even though we lost as you could Hear the Fear in the Leaf fans during that 3rd.

What a waist of a roster spot when we have young guys with potential are sitting because of this hands of stone plumber.

The title of your post is totally unnecessary. Hope you get a nice stay in the sin bin for that remark, although I'm fairly certain the troll nature of your post means you really won't even notice.
