Sven Baertschi assigned to Adirondack. Raymond activated
@KristenOdlandCH: #Flames dispatch Sven Baertschi, who was just bag-skated with tonight’s other scratches, to Adirondack.

Good.
Let's get him on that second line of Arnold-Poirier and see what he can do. Or even maybe Baertschi-Knight-Poirier.

Im a big Sven fan. Always have been so its kind of disappointing to see that he didn't do more when he was up. The guy needs to find his game pretty quick if he wants to stick with this team.

It will be good for him to get more ice time in the AHL.

He either needs a thicker slice toaster or to turn his settings to 3 so he doesn't burn his toast. If he starts to eat better in the morning, he'll do better during the day.

Numbers game, sadly.
If he played Centre or D, he'd have until at least the seasons end.
Go tear apart Addy!

"Hi Sven. Here's your new linemate - he wasn't here when you left."
"Oh, hi Devin."
[in fairness, Devin's been very good since he got sent down, so maybe it's him that's unhappy in this hypothetical]

Not a shock. Only a matter of time before Ferland is sent down as well. Not because either didn't play well, they did, they just aren't as effective as the veterans…yet.

I thought Sven made some serious strides during this last call-up, despite limited ice-time and low production. It seemed as though he was grasping what it took to make it to the show and stick. I definitely take that as a positive.
I'm still not fully convinced he is a regular NHLer, but there is an effort there that I haven't taken notice of in the past few seasons. Hopefully he learned a ton, takes this send-down for what it is (a numbers decision), and fires on all cylinders in prep for the next inevitable call-up.

On the fence with Ferland.
If he can show he is better then Bollig, it may lead to Bollig being on his way out of town.

His 200 foot game has certainly improved, now he just needs to not sulk, work hard, play the same game down there, score some points, move up the roster and show he's ready the next time the Flames need a body.
The foundation has been poured now, he has to avoid building the attic before it dries.

The changes Sven needs to make are not at all physical. He's got the physical tools to be a full-time NHLer. He needs to get his head in the right place, it seems.

I agree with you. He looked to be working on other aspects of the game. He forechecked well, tried to set up his team mates, being stronger on the puck and generally becoming a better pro. Hopefully he continues to work on these things while building up the offence in Addy since he'll have more minutes and potentially be on more offensive situations like the PP.
He's still young and has some time to work on things, and does not have the pressure of being our top prospect anymore. I'm hoping he finds some chemistry being the setup man to Poirier.

Agree with this, although I'd rather keep Bollig around for a bit longer if Ferland is only going to get Bollig's minutes up with the big club. I'd rather Ferland go back to the minors if that's the case, rack up more ice time then head up to the big club full time and replace Bollig if the Flames are still fighting for a playoff spot post trade deadline.

Yeah, he is close. Needs to go down and integrate the offense back into his game now, can't take the demotion as a negative but just as the next step.

He better be able to out-produce Setoguchi if there is going to be any hope for him.
Hard to believe that Baertschi doesn't have a single goal yet this season.
