DeBoer is giving Peter Harrold and Bryce Salvador significant ice time. He should be fired for that reason alone. Devils fans HATE him, his lineup decisions are mediocre, his systems are bad and he doesn't know how to use young players.

He's a classic square peg/round hole coach and not a very flexible guy in how he handles veterans and rookies. I wouldn't say he's terrible but he's always going to be one of those guys that's one step forward, one step back. He drives Devils fans absolutely batty with his line juggling.

I assume he took those comments as a shot at the talent assembled by the GM. The rumblings began last season and it looks like Murray probably wanted to fire him last year and had to wait for some sort of justifiable reason.

Just talked with a Sens fan, aperently Maclean met with Eugene and Murray on Friday and must have known he was done by Saturday, so think of the comments as a parting shot for having one of the lowest payrolls in the legue and trying to contend.

Pretty shocking given the fact MacLean won the Jack Adams for 2012-2013. Amazing that within a hundred games he goes from the best coach of the year to getting canned.

Murray says that MacLean was overly harsh on his young defence. One mistake and they sit for 5 games.

First Torie, Grant and Kari and now Hyneman?

How are we even supposed to recognize the Mythbusters anymore??

I predict that Cameron will only last to the end of the season as the coach. The organization said it isn't interim to avoid a million questions from the media about who they are looking at, but given that this will likely be Murray's last season due to his health issues, they'll likely wait on hiring a long-term coach to allow the new GM to get "his guy".

The added bonus is that this will drive Leaf Nation crazy as that team is equally mediocre to Ottawa, but you couldn't get Carlyle off that bench with a stick of dynamite. I think those morons probably gave him a 3 year extension after the 4 game win streak.

The dream scenario for Sens fans would be to hire Babcock as GM/coach in the off season, as Leaf Nation seems convinced he is dying to go to Toronto. Won't happen, but it is a nice thought...

You mean his system which sees his team face a low number of shots and have a high puck possession?

MacLean is an excellent coach who got way more out of the Senators than most would. Philly would be smart to show Berube the door and bring in the walrus.

If we're being honest Melnyk's cheapness is the issue in Ottawa. They have a lower payroll than us and they are expecting their coach to get them to contend.

Yeah it's definitely the core of the issue. I don't think you need to spend to the cap to ice a competitive team but your margins for error are a lot smaller when your payroll is amongst the lowest in the league. You look at the talent they have lost over the past few years and I don't know how anyone in that organization could honestly expect the team to be better this year.

Seems like under-performance was not the issue, any GM can come out and say we don't play well enough defensively... It's a cop out excuse, Darryl gave the same to the media when he fired Keenan. This was about bruised egos and a clownshoe owner.

Do you even watch hockey? Who cares about puck possession if they can't do anything with it? They are 29th in shots for (only the Sabres are worse) and 22nd in shots against. DeBoer isn't a good coach. The Devils will probably be in the McDavid/Eichel conversation all season long. Partially because of a bad roster, partially because of DeBoer.

They have a bad roster. End of story. They were only close to a playoff spot last season due to Deboer. He took them to the finals and they had no business getting there.

Giving Ryan 7 million with by far the lowest payroll is a disaster.

Especially when he's the type of scorer that needs a set up man. He's got none in Ottawa. There will be no 30 goal scorer in Ottawa until they find someone to give him the puck other than karlsson
