This link is from a news agency in Salt Lake City:

Nice to see Calgary getting some international coverage, too bad it's for this!

I hope this sparks some sort of investigation into how some drivers are getting licences in this city. Unfortunately this woman isn't a freak occurrence as you can go to pretty well any Superstore parking lot and witness the same thing on a lower scale. The city really does need to step up their standards for driving tests especially for immigrants there are way too many that don't have a clue how to drive getting licenses in this city as while I can't say with any certainty this woman was one I would have no issue putting money down that she wasn't born in Canada with those driving skills.

I agree the City should make it tougher to get a license, but that doesn't do anything for those who get their license elsewhere.

I knew one guy who failed his test 3 times, so he went and took the test in a small town and passed. Not much the city can do about that.

We have already seen schools shut down in this city for giving out bogus licenses and I have been told that it happens with some other schools that will pass immigrants for an extra fee as Alberta is a hotbed for bogus licenses. The problem isn't the test itself but the schools giving out the tests. IMO the government should go back to full control again as since privatization we have seen much, much more poor drivers on the roads.

I would hope that the police are tracing the person in this video to find out where she was awarded her license and investigating because it's pretty obvious she is not fit for driving on our streets at the present time.

I can feel for that driver in the beginning of the video. With the car on it's driver side and the car behind it. That makes for a difficult exit. But once the car on the driver side left man that just was horrible decisions after that.

Looks like the driver of the SUV has been found and charged:

I call BS for her 'not knowing' that she hit another vehicle.

Are you kidding me? Difficult? If you find that difficult then you should also go for more driver training. This is fundamental stuff.

It's a tight turn is all I'm saying. My work parking lot is almost the same set up. I do this almost on a daily basis. There is no excuse for how bad that driver was. But not all of us drivers can be as good as you.

Actually all drivers should be as good as him. If you can't back out of a stall, you should not be on the road.

You do it every day, how many times do you hit someone or go through that gong show that was on display.

It is not difficult to control your vehicle. Having an understanding of spatial relations is key to driving. If that person can't do it in that low stress, low speed situation.

I understand that the average person driving a car wouldn't be that bad. I was only trying to sympathies with the driver. The car on the driver side and the car behind on the passenger side was what made this difficult for her. I see it a lot in my parking lot at work. Not that bad, no where near that bad but people being in that exact same set up in the parking lot. It makes it tight to back out because you don't want to cut into the car beside you or back into the car behind you. The TD bank on memorial by Marlborough mall is a similar set up. People always be parking along the wall and make it difficult to get out because that are blocking your route to back up.

Since when does the city have anything to do with getting a drivers license? It's provincially regulated.

Well I think you know what I meant. The standards are different in different places.

Claiming you didn't know you hit another vehicle shouldn't be a legitimate excuse for a hit and run.

Honestly if you are a police officer you are probably more horrified that the driver didn't realize she bumped into another vehicle than her admitting hit and run. Admitting she didn't realize she bumped into a stationary object as a driver speaks about her overall awareness level as a driver. What happens if your kid is walking behind her in a parking lot and she bumps into him/her? Pretty scary stuff here. At least people can now be on the lookout for light colored BMW SUV's in busy parking lots over the holidays. Still pretty miffed she didn't get charged as it's not like city police to let anyone off the hook for anything these days. They are pretty militant nowadays compared to years ago.

Would hating on your own Ethnic be considered racist when it comes to their driving skills? Haha.

Also, how bad is the damage of the hit and run? I'm sure she will get more than just a $115 fine from just the police.

I believe that she didn't notice she hit that car. The other car that eventually ended up behind her left, and she had no idea. She really had no awareness of her surroundings.

Nor the size of her vehicle and how far she could go or not go. It's quite scary to think she has a license.

As mentioned, the Government needs to take control of license issuing again. Why it was ever privatized is just silly and wrong.
