The problem of team effort
My biggest concern about the current incarnation of the Calgary Flames and all of their great young talent is that it makes it very hard to figure out which name to get on the back of a new jersey!
Also, does anyone know of a great place to shop online for jersey's? I live in Toronto so I can't visit anything local in Calgary. Thanks.
For names, I am thinking...
Gaudreau
Monahan
Giordano
This Bennett kid might be something good, but am having trouble buying a jersey for someone who I haven't seen play yet

I'm in the same boat, I'm thinking of getting a Monahan jersey though. The kid just seems legit and I think he's only going to continue to improve. Gio would be great too because I can't see him playing for another team...ever. I'm actually starting to really like the third jersey now that the curse is over.
I'm also thinking of getting a game won Gaudreau jersey for my son but my son is 19 months old so it'll only fit him for a little while longer.

the last time i was in TO there were lots of places on younge street to buy jerseys, otherwise, i would think your nearest jersey city would ahve, or easily be able to get one. how about NHL.com, river city sports.....
I'd get Gio myself, but i sometimes think i will never get anotehr jersey with a player name on it becasue evertually the player leaves......

This is the boat I am in. I have never had a name on the back of my jerseys exactly for this reason, players change but I'm always cheering for the Flames. To each his own, but to be honest I was actually thinking of breaking the streak and getting a TJ Brodie or Monahan, I just have a good feeling about some of these core guys being around for a long time

Definitely wouldn't get Bennett until you know what number he's going to get.

It's a good problem to have. It used to be just Kipper and Iggy jerseys... Now, we have Gaudreau, Monahan, Giordano, Brodie, and soon to be Bennett. It's exciting.

There were some good ideas in here.

I actually ended up going the ebay route. Was skeptical, but found a reputable dealer with a great price. I can PM you his info if you want.

Well I'd definitely say no to Bennett because once he joins the Flames on a full time basis (I use that definitive term because he will be a great player), his number will change.
As for long term guys who are going to be our core for years to come, I would say TJ Brodie, Giordano, Monahan, and Gaudreau are going to be long term Flames.
Side note: Saying that makes me so happy. With Bennett and Poirier on their way as well, our core is starting so young, we have many great years to come

Arrived thinking someone was going to complain about the team’s effort.
Leaving happily surprised.

I bought a Monahan last year and I'm thinking Gaudreau this year.
I avoid getting players like Glencross, Hudler, Wideman etc. but a Brodie or Giordano would be pretty cool too since they'll be here forever.
So far the only name I've gotten that didn't stay too long was Phaneuf, but to be fair, when I bought it in 2006 no one could have seen that massive downfall....

The problem of team effort
I bought a Monahan 3rd last year. I'm thinking of getting a Brodie home this year, and I really hope I can get a Poirier next season.

Got a Monahan retro while they were still selling them. Very happy with my decision.

I have been wearing a Phaneuf Reebok Edge jersey since they came out. After he left I wasn't sure who to get because the team wasn't that good and I wasn't sure who would be along for the long haul. Plus, I like authentic jerseys, so I didn't want to drop over $400 on a jersey for a player who wasn't around anymore. I already had one of those.
At the end of the lockout shortened 2013 season, the Flames had a 50% off sale at the last game. I picked up a new authentic jersey but still wasn't sure who to put on it. I waited 18 months until Brodie signed his new contract this season. The next day I sent it away to have Brodie put on it. Picked up a Monahan third jersey for my seven year old at the same time. Hopefully we are set for the next five years at least.

I have my eyes on a Monohan or Gaudreau jersey and haven't decided which one to get.

I have a team-autographed jersey that I got right before the '04 run at an auction. It hurt to purchase, but was great to wear!! I don't get a lot of chances anymore as I don't live in Calgary most of the time. Hopefully, will get to wear it to a game next week (if I can get tix!) as will be in town.
It's always a reminder what a lot of hard work and a bit of surprise can get you. Kinda like the kids today, but they're a LOT faster.
I've never had a yen for a "named" jersey, but I'm getting sort of excited by young Johnny!

Has anyone bought from the flames website before? they are doing a 20% off sale that ends tonight.
EDIT: Actually I see they are heat pressed which I think is bad?

That is not the Flames website. That's the NHL website. It's heat-pressed and it's crap.
You want the actual Flames store check out http://www.flamesport.com/store/ or as someone else mentioned River City Sports is good too.
EDIT: Sorry I didn't realize the NHL shop was cheaper. IIRC they used to sell heat-pressed jerseys for the same price as the fannatic's stitched ones. If you're looking to save a buck, fine, but to save cash, personally I'd rather have a blank jersey than a heat-pressed named jersey.
