That's also 66.7%. The Flames and Nucks met in the first round in 1982-83 and 1983-84 and the Flames lost in the second round both times.

(Let me preface this by saying that I think the oilers management are idiots and I wouldn't put it past them to look online to see what the public thinks they should do.)

I think the oilers are going to make the playoffs. They beat the sharks last night and they're starting to develop, visually. They're on the right track and I think if they keep everything the same and do their best to keep this exact roster together, which means trading any and all prospects and picks, they'll be a playoff team this year and for many years in the future.

I think it comes down to Flames, Jets and Wild for the final wildcard spot.

I think the Flames will qualify for the playoffs. The 7 game losing streak was unfortunate, but fortunately it happened in December, not March, and the team can learn from the mistake along that streak, and ultimately gel into a better team. The Flames have now managed to get 5 of possible 6 points, in their last 3 games, so I think the turnaround has begun. In 1985-85, the Flames also lost 11 in a row in December-January, and ended up finishing strong, and eventually advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. Even more coincidental is the record they had before the losing skid began: 17-8-3.

As for the playoff picture, here is how it stands today:

Central:

1. CHICAGO (50)
2. NASHVILLE (48)
3. ST.LOUIS (45)

Pacific:

1. ANAHEIM (51)
2. LOS ANGELES (43)
3. SAN JOSE (43)

Wild Card:

1. WINNIPEG (45)
2. VANCOUVER (42)

3. CALGARY (41)
4. MINNESOTA (36)
5. DALLAS (35)
6. COLORADO (34)

I still think the Jets and Flames are the most likely tams to secure a playoff birth as wild card teams.

Just curious, but why not Vancouver? They’re only a point ahead of the Flames, but have four games in hand.

I'm just going on a hunch, but think the top 3 teams in the Pacific will be Anaheim, San Jose, and Vancouver. Calgary will beat out LA for a playoff position.

In the Central, I think the Jets will finish just outside the top 3, with Chicago, Nashville, and St.Louis ahead of us.

OK, that’s certainly a possibility. It might also be San Jose that ends up missing instead of L.A.

One thing I’ve observed in the last few years: The Kings are pure money in the playoffs, but they have a hell of a time getting there.

I can't even fathom that 2 people think Edmonton will make the playoff's. Even if they voted on Dec 7 when the thread was created.

Feels strange.

Johnny hockey is just getting going. This guy literally gets better every game. He will be the difference maker. If he stays hot, we are going to be ok and sneak in.

That being said, Our Top 4 D men can not get hurt either.

I see Dallas pulling off a crazy streak in the second half and jumping up in the top 3 of their division.
