Another big 4 pointer.
If the Flames want to make the playoffs, beating the teams below them in the standings is a darn good way to go about it.

"It's not about me ... This game is about great hockey players." - Hartley when asked about being 1 win away from 400

Hartley confirms Stajan will not play tonight. He's been cleared to play and is now working on his conditioning. #COLvsCGY

Every time I go to the dome this year something awesome happens. Tonight shouldn't be any different. Johnny with 4 points tonight and the SO winner Flames win 5-4.

I have no ill will towards Iginla and while "knocking out" an opponent is harsh, I do wish that Gaudreau, Monahan, Brodie and Gio skate circles around Tanguay and Iginla and make them their bitch.

Time for the next test. Beat your old captain and his young talented team.
Full respect for Iggy and I hold nothing against him but going to the Avs wasn't the best choice. Hopefully he can come away impressed with seeing the Flames first hand. I'd like to see him retire here on a one year after his contract with the Avs is up. If we can be the ones to finally get him his cup, then how perfect would that be?

What set Iggy apart during his peak years was his drive... his hunger. He may still have many of his physical attributes that helped him along the way but it seems like he no longer relies on that determination that Flames fans came to love.
I think you will see this in spades tonight when the current Flames outcompete the ex-Flames at every opportunity. Hoping to see yet another indication that this team is on the right track.

Much respect for Iggy now and always, but he's not here anymore. Go Flames.

Well, there's no way the Avs are beating us now. If the cap'n says it.
This team when motivated, is nearly impossible to be contained by any team.

Well my post was more aimed the outrageous idea that Gaudreau could somehow beat Iginla in a fight but yes I agree.
I really hope Gaudreau goes full Johnny Hockey and embarrasses the Avs while Iginla and Tanguay are on the ice.
I'll add that those two were my favorite Flames players from the past era.

Its been a dream season so far. On that note, Flames 4 Avs 2. Baertschi's first of the year will be the winner and Iggy pots two for the Avs. Hartley gets win 400 against his old team.

Personally I'd like to see Gaudreau strip Iginla on the backcheck, and transition a pass to a streaking Jooris, catch up with the play and fire one home. It would remind Iginla of what he was doing right 10 years ago, but lost in his game about 2 years afterwards.
I don't dislike Iginla...but I do think he was a very different player after that knee injury in 2007 where he missed 11 games.
I hope the Flames can win this one tonight. Always dislike the Avalanche, something about Colorado just getting an elite team walk into their market always bugged me. Plus I hate the commentators on Altitude sports or whatever their RSN is. I love it when those guys have to call a 9-1 Flames win against their team.

Replacing your so-called "rose colored glasses" with a bias of an entirely different nature does not make you any more objective.

That being said, I hope the 'new era' Flames show those 'has-beens' in Colorado what it takes to win, and out work the Avs to a painful death tonight. I'd even like to see a little bit of jealousy and envy creep across the faces of Iginla and Tanguay as they watch our Flames bench, who are clearly unified as a team, and wonder what might have been if they had different attitudes/leadership styles during their time in Calgary.
Flames win 4 - 2

Time for the patented Bouwmeester defense here.
Iginla's got 2 olympic golds + one WHC gold, assisted on the "golden goal", The Art Ross/Pearson/Richard/Clancy trophy (for leadership qualities). He's a blown call away from hoisting the cup as well.
Tanguay, I'd agree.
Anyway, as for the game I hope Calgary stomps the Avs. I'm calling 6-1 Flames.
