Location and time. A Saturday with plus 5 forecast at McMahon only makes sense if cityhall actually was interested in this being available to all of Calgary.
But so long as cityhall can sache across the street they are happy. My bad it wasn't even at Olympic plaza. It was on the steps of Cityhall.
Fyi Greycup is late because according to Global cityhall is currently delaying everything because hey they/he has to get their photo ops.
Go Stamps its their day!

Popped by for a few minutes at lunch, it's really too bad they couldn't use Olympic Plaza. The area they had was packed and anything outside the area offered very little view if you weren't in the first 2-3 "rows".

Looked like an OK turnout when I was there.

Fairly decent turnout.
Tossed plenty of mini footballs out into the crowd but Wished they wouldnt throw them when someone was speaking

You still see the odd one or two Riders fans there too

Wasn't a bad turnout. Would have preferred it at the Plaza just like it was in 2008.
Was fun. To bad it was delayed though. would have been better if it has Started on time.

Suppose to start at 12 noon but city hall had to hord the time with the cup in the warmth of city hall.
Not my opinion. Global reported sorry for the delay we are told the Greycup is making its way through city hall. WTF.
The entire festivity lasted 20 minutes. Twenty
The players arrive to a roar of 2000 people at 12:31
So about 1 section of McMahon.
Greycup arrived at 12:33 Nenchi immediately begins to babble until 12:38.
Huff, Bo and Cornish speak until 12:45.
Crowd chants Huff Huff Huff.
Huff had the best line " Calgary Stampeders 2014 Greycup Champions has a great ring to it. It will be a nice ring Ken King"
When Bo is announced crowd chants MVP MVP.
The Stamps announcer gets the signal cityhall has to walk upstairs.
"Ladies and Gentleman the Greycup Champions 17-3, the greatest Stampeder team ever"
That will just about wrap things up for todays rally. We want to thank everyone for coming out and celebrating a wonderful organization and a great city"
The players start hoisting the cup 12:45-12:50.
The small crowd disperses 12:52.
Afterwards behind the scenes on the cityhall wheel chair ramp. Leslie Horton as only she can has a short awkward amateurish interview
With Cornish, Bo, Ralph and the TV time hound.
That's it. Man i hope when they get their rings it is in front of a sold out McMahon stadium crowd at their first home game.
So is this the kind of no parade no turnout because of city hall we can expect if the Flames ever win a cup.
2008 was far more than this and ice was either covered or drained because we were standing on the pavement.

Would have been nice to introduce each player individually. Perhaps they didn't have enough time (after starting late), which is a shame...

I agree player intro's would have been a nice touch.
just seemed rushed which happens when things run late I guess.

They introduced all the Starters on both O and D sides In 2008.
Players love to hear their names and likewise the fans love to hear the players called out.

Maybe this should go in a CFL off-season thread, but at any rate, Wally isn't wasting any time trying to find the next head coach of the BC Lions (and he wants permission to talk to DD)

Hands off Wally. I thought Huff gave Dickenson the Assistant Head Coach title (and more money I assume) to go with the Offensive Coordinator title to prevent this type of thing. All Huff has to is promise the head coaching gig to Dickenson in a couple of years. Maybe Huff will step aside as soon as next season.

Meh. Personally I don't care for Dickenson and his second half game plans. He's abandoned the run game way too many times and its burned the stamps in numerous games.

Huff will coach one more year

Quote:
“In order to put an end all the speculation and all the questions, I would like to clarify the matter once and for all by announcing that I will be returning for one more season on the sideline with the Stampeders,” said Hufnagel. “In 2016, I will concentrate on the general manager’s duties and turn the head coach job over to Dave Dickenson, who has contributed greatly to our team’s success as offensive coordinator and has all the tools to be an excellent head coach in this league.”

That is great news (not only that Huff is returning, but DD will be the next head coach).

Great to see Huff come back for more one year, but I'm equally excited (if not more) to hear him basically anoint Dickenson as the next head coach in 2016. I'm not if I've ever seen that happen before -- sorry Wally

Went to McMahon today. A PR guy there said Juwan Simpson broke it.

I should add that the Cup looks in rough shape. The most recent plate is the Stamps' 2008 win and it's practically falling off.

Really, you sure? They only have up to 2008 engraved on it? I find that surprising, especially to not have the 100th Grey Cup Champs inscribed. Thought that would be a forsure.
