If I saw the name ABCD on some kind of legal document I would think it was a placeholder or some kind of computer error.

Spelling her name would become like an Abbott and Costello routine.

Yikes, 'ABCD'? We named our daughter 'Myla' which for the first little bit I felt was a little bit left field (unique, but not too wierd) heck spell check thinks 'Myla' is a spelling error.
But anyway, glad we went with Myla and not 'ABCD', lol

How is "Ava" in the top for girls? Is that a real name? I've never once heard it.
Parents nowadays GMG. I'm going to name my kids Bob, Jim, Jane, or Sarah, just to restore some commonality to names.
I swear if I see one more facebook post about someone having a kid, and their name has a non-standard "Y" in it. I'm gonna lose my s**t. "Maiylya" is not a name!

Or better yet, Qwop!! I'm actually disappointed that after a quick google search, I can't find any reference to Qwop being used as a baby name.

It's a recent popular name for reasons unbeknownst to me. I don't recall ever growing up or even meeting an Ava but my young sons have several Ava's in their classrooms. I mean it's not horrible but I don't see why everyone wants to name their girls Ava all of a sudden. Is there a young TV star or pop singer named Ava right now?

Ava is an old school name (e.g. Ava Gardner). I like most old names, and if I don't like them, I at least appreciate them as respectable names. It's the new fandangled ones that I can't stand. The worst part is I think less of the kids with them. I know it's petty, but I can't be alone. Saddling a kid with a ridiculous name is a huge disservice. Stick with the classics, yo.

I have nothing against the name but I just find it puzzling why everyone is all of a sudden on the Ava train. Usually there's a popular at the time actor or music star behind the popularity but this one is a little out of left field.

Kind of seems that way, yeah. Must have hit some sort of weird critical mass at some point. We considered it for our daughter as I really like it, but I didn't want her to be part of a pack of Avas, so we went with something less popular.

Is it Ah-vah, or Eh-vah?
The more "unique" the name, the higher the horsepower on the helicopter parent. Unique is in quotes because a lot of these "unique" names just end up being as common, if not moreso, than regular names.
