I'm on your side. If he's got enough time and money to "troll the media" on Instragram, he has enough time and money to do something more creative and productive on the same medium, especially considering how much of public face he is and the role model he's supposed to be.

Seriously, the 15 seconds he spent posting a picture should have been spent ...
... uhhh?
Athletes shouldn't be your kid's role models.

What do you do with it? (once your calisthenics are finished, of course.)

Just saw the interview regarding it on SN - Turns out he had the money for the only reason I can imagine having such large sums.... was in vegas and went on a hot streak. Blake Wheeler took the photo and while it is still ridiculous, I can deal with it a bit more knowing he didnt go to the bank to take the photo.

When I first saw it I thought it was a hand, close up to the camera holding miniature toy cash wads, with Kane looking out the window in the background. This is why sleep is necessary in our lives.

Yeah, guys like Wayne Gretzky and Michael Jordan aren't there to inspire kids, nor should they be.
As a matter of fact, tell your kids to ignore Jon Cornish when he is volunteering at the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation and setting an example for kids who want to play football in this city.
Ludicrous.

Michael Jordan the degenerate gambler and #######?
Athletes should not be your kid's role models. Ability doesn't equal a good person.

Kids dont know that. Have you ever met a kid? They're idiots.
Face it though, Athletes are role models.

Bad role models, which is why they shouldn't be.

With Kane in the Line-up the Jets are 9-4-4 without him 3-5-0
He has 58 hits in 17 games (16 coming off an injury) 3.4 game.... Bouma leads the Flames by a lot with 3 hits per game. Kane also beat the crap out of Pittsburgh designated fighter (Engelland replacement Simon Despres)
Maybe it is just that he provides them with critical mass for top-6 forwards but they are a different team with him in the line-up
He is also 23 years old ... exactly 2 years older than Gaudreau and a year younger than Jooris.

Sports is often a big part of a child's formative years, no matter what country you live in.
Athlete role models are here to stay, whether you like it or not. And if you have kids, I doubt very much they're going to ignore the pro athletes of their favourite sport.

I'm not denying that. I'm saying that they shouldn't be the role models for kids.
Teach your kids the difference.

Then explain to us who should be the role models. I'm quite interested to know who kids should be paying attention to if sports is off the table.

Despres is not a designated fighter in any way shape or form. He has 4 NHL fights and 5 AHL fights in his career. He's about as much of a "designated fighter" as Curtis Glencross. What are you going on about?

No one should expect anyone, pro sports players or otherwise, to provide a shining example of how to be a good person for their children. If a player chooses to go that extra mile, good on them. Point them out to your kids and say, "Here's how you should act as an adult." But don't get up in arms when someone doesn't fit the narrative you would like to tell your kids.
I find it funny how many people are upset about this picture. I couldn't care less. He's a kind of decent hockey player who makes a lot of money and thinks he's an Instagram star. Yawn.
If you really want an example for your kids, teach them a financial lesson. Kane should be investing his money in a diversified portfolio. Liquid assets all over your back (ha) are not a solid base for a stable retirement.
