I never understood why the Jedi thought 'bringing balance to the force' was a good thing. There were dozens of Jedi and two Sith, so in order to bring balance, a boatload of Jedi were going to have to die. But it totally worked. Palpatine and Vader on one side and Kenobi and Yoda on the other, for like decades. Balance.
Anyway. Awesome teaser trailer. I generally don't like trailers because they give away plot points, but this was just a perfect balance of making me want to see the movie and making me want to see the movie.
As for the new light saber, I'm worried about the wielder unintentionally cutting off his own hand. Just lopping it off at the wrist if he spins the blade. And the benefit of leverage that that kind of guard provides is lost because you would cut off your own fingers. I guess I'll have to see it in action.

Teaser looks good. I wonder if there would be any benefit to, now that you know you have a well received and great teaser, not release a trailer at all. From a marketing standpoint, you would then have this teaser where everyone is jacked, and then keep audiences in complete mystery right until release Dec 2015. I'm not sure they'll be able to help themselves though. But do you risk turning off a few fans if the next trailer doesn't live up to the hype? This movie is going to make a crapton of money.
I always liked the 3rd movie of the prequels, I actually did like how they showed Vader turn into Vader. The first two were bad, but the 3rd I thought good. I do wonder if they went back in time, would they still cast Hayden Christiansen as Anakin? That seemed to be a mistake.
Finally, the fact of the matter to me is that the original Star Wars were just great stories. As much as it was cool to see the sci-fi take, and obviously all the amazing special effects that Lucas pulled into the originals to take movies to a place they'd never been before, those movies still had terrific plots.
These next three movies are going to have to have great scripts, no matter how cool looking they are. That's my bottom line at least.

It all depends on which definition of "balance" you're looking at.
One definition is to have opposing forces acting in equal measure, so in that sense, "balance" would indeed be two Sith and two Jedi remaining to counteract each other.
Another way of looking at it is that balance is a general calmness and stability. The Jedi would have considered the Sith to be agents of chaos intent on disrupting the stability of the universe. From that perspective, restoring balance would be eliminating the Sith and the disarray that they bring.
I believe the second definition is how the Jedi interpreted the prophecy.

It was Andy Serkis. He has a role in the movie.

My guess is that the hilt on that lightsaber is actually an exhaust for an overpowered crystal, maybe powerful enough to cut through a standard lightsaber. Looks like a broadsword, acts like a broadsword

All the upgrades and the new satellite dish are fine, if it's a fast ship..

So of course people already translated the words on the X-Wings pilots vest:
"PULL TO INFLATE"
Written upside down no less, so the pilot can read it.
Also reading that the voice in the trailer is that of Andy Serkis (best known as Gollum).

The problem with that lightsaber is what is the point of the hilt? The two side blades don't actually meet up with the main sword so if another saber slid down the side it would just cut off the cross hilt. It doesn't make sense functionally to me.

This clip is exactly why I didn't like his takes on Star Trek and am somewhat pessimistic about this movie - his approach seems to be style over substance. That camera move is completely disorienting, making it much harder to follow the action, but, hey, looks cool so who cares. That's essentially my take on the new lightsabre as well - looks cool but makes no sense as two plasma (or whatever) beams in the place of a guard would be more of a threat the the wielder that an opponent.

Regarding lightsabers, I always thought the ultimate design would simply be two parallel blades, about one blade-width apart, that could be independently turned on and off. Then just turn on one blade, cross blades with your opponent, activate the second blade, and you've now locked your opponent's blade between yours. Then just twist and you should be able to wrench the lightsaber out of your opponent's hands.
As for this design, I'm prepared to wait to see what the fighting style actually is, and what opponent it's being used against. I'd agree that it seems a poor design for lightsaber duels, but that may not be it's intent... it could provide slightly more cover against a blaster, for example.

^^ You'd think that just modulating the lightsaber off and on would defend against that kind of attack.

Well...Whoever made that teaser knows what feelings are teasers supposed to invoke. And I LOVE how the camera follows the MF - It feels like you're chasing it
Whoever made the Jurassic Park trailer/teaser does not know how to create hype, at all.

Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts, she could definitely be Natalie Portman's granddaughter.

That was my thought too - like the Falcon is so fast and maneuverable the camera can't even keep up.
