What a beauty.
Hartley. Keepin' it real.

I am excited to see both Ramo and the young guys play tomorrow. Johnny G. live should be a treat.

What I like is that even when the rest of the team doesn't have the same jump, he is still going all out. Every crappy first period we played lately, Jooris had great shifts throughout.

Jooris has been a terrific surprise, there's no doubt about it. He works so damn hard and as mentioned, makes such smart plays.
He's the type of guy that you can see slowly develop into a legit star over the next couple years, but I won't hold my breath too much. Can't see him being sent down though anymore.
As for Baertschi, if they haven't been already, they need to explore trade options in my opinion. Just not a good fit for this team anymore. Long term, I can't see him sticking either, not with our existing prospect depth. Get a pick or a defenseman and let the guy have a shot at making the NHl and sticking somewhere.

And also subtly pointing out that they aren't resting on their laurels yet. He can't let the early success go to their heads.
The media is way too quick to judge whether it is positive or negative. They are just looking for a story.

Lol, love Hartley's analogies. The porcupine in a balloon party is still his best one.

I like seeing Ramo getting the start. Thought he earned it. Also hopefully since he's playing more it will have a positive impact on Hiller. Nothing wrong with some healthy competition.

They seem to have embraced the tag team mentality. That sort of attitude can be infectious and promotes positive competition and winning.

I don't think Jooris is gonna be 'star' material. He will, however, be one of those depth guys that every competitive team wishes they had. Responsible, feisty, relentless forechecker that makes good on opportunities.
Yeah, I'm seeing Baertschi as more and more expendable as time goes on. He's going to have to start contributing on the scoresheet pretty soon to stay in on the future roster conversation. For a skill guy, just doesn't bring enough of what Hudler and Gaudreau bring in much larger doses. I'd like to see him threading sweet passes like he did that one game a couple weeks ago much more often than he is.

A star may be stretching it, but I could see him become a very key middle 6 guy that are absolutely crucial to any playoff success. Guys like Dwight King, Bryan Bickell, Brad Marchand, Maxim Talbot, all played big roles on Stanley Cup champion teams. When your star players are getting shut down you need guys like that to score goals, and hopefully that's what Jooris can do in the future

I wonder how many of the people writing off Baertschi right now were claiming him as the new face of the franchise a couple of seasons ago.
He is playing well right now and there has been good progression. Having a bunch of guys pushing for positions is a good thing. He fits just fine.

I think if McGrattan gets in against Phoenix it's a gesture to reward a guy who is working hard in practice. It also sends a message to the roster that there are many of them who pressing for a couple of spots.
Mind you, it could also be because they intend to put McGrattan on waivers and they thought they would do him a solid and get him some playing time in a Saturday night game to increase his chances of being picked up.
