They didn't go with it because it was an unsolicited design. It's not hard to understand.

I don't mind the colour but the logo is wrong. It should be Greg Louganis picture ready to dive. That's more fitting.

You'd think it would be the Oilers, but no, you can always count on the Canucks.
Its like inventing the longer-lasting lightbulb, you can always count on the Canucks to invent an even crappier jersey.

The Danbury Trashers are a defunct United Hockey League (UHL) ice hockey team that was located in Danbury, Connecticut. They were first established in 2004 as an expansion team named for their owner's business ventures.
In their first season, the Trashers set a league record for penalty minutes.
At the end of the team's second season, Galante was arrested on 72 various charges including conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). He pleaded guilty, was sentenced to 87 months of imprisonment, and had to forfeit his ownership interests in 25 trash hauling companies. During the same time the Trashers disbanded, citing financial concerns, including travel costs.

The main crest is too high on the chest... but I honestly kinda like it.
I'll probably get flamed for this (and rightfully so), but I actually think the Canucks have looked pretty damn sharp since 2007-08 with the reebok edge switch. I can even get past the "Vancouver" word mark on the chest, it's a solid colour scheme and the striping is pretty old school.
Yes yes I know it's the Canucks, divers, whiners, etc... good looking sweaters recently.

That's so you can wear your fanny pack without covering up the logo.

The Colour doesn't bug me that much, I'm all for more diversity in colour. But I agree, why can't they keep a logo for longer than 5 years?

while I agree these jerseys are complete garbage along with every other jersey in canucks history, we can't really talk with our currents

It's the same reason why the Flames will never be able to go with anything from the "Jersey Ideas, Ken King Please Read" thread. There are too many legal minefields regarding intellectual property to navigate.
That thread is actually a really bad idea, anything that's good that gets posted in there is automatically eliminated as a jersey possibility.

What legal issues would it raise? If the artist is known and can prove ownership, they ask permission or purchase the design.

Well, depending on which website the design has appeared on, the website owners could have a strong claim to ownership, also if any suggestions have been given or implemented the person who made the suggestions has a claim as well.

I surprised they don't have a line of Canucks fan riot wear. Y'know, dark hoodies with lots of pockets and maybe a collar that comes up to cover the nose and mouth area.
