I know I am personally reponsible for destroying 3 Gretzky rookie cards. Poor old Wayne was a regular target on the dart board, and I think we destroyed one card with caps from a cap gun.
But, that's part of the reason his rookie card is/was valuable. Too many 10 year olds with more hate for him than foresight to see that we were destroying our future beer money.

Well that make me feel a little better. If only I did things a little differently when I was 6........mind you......those motorcycle rides were probably worth it at the time

Don't open them, go chat with a few collectors and tell them what you have. Plus allot of the Collectors in the City only sell valuable cards or rookie cards on E-Bay. Check out E-Bay and see how much they are selling for.
I visited a collector in Las Vegas a few years back and closed packs of Cards have value as it only takes one rare card in 1991 to bring up the value.
Do your homework first.

Anyone ever play for keeps by seeing who could throw their card closer to a wall/target, the winner getting the two (or more) cards you wagered or threw?
So much fun, and did it all the time to increase our collection, but of course they were all worthless after that with how banged up they were.
Course didn't know this at 5-7 years old.

This thread inspired me to look at some of my old hockey cards. I have Jagr's OPC rookie card, I see it selling for $45 online ... sweet.

Man, that was fun.
I played that every recess and eventually got fairly good at it. I would always play with the same dinged up cards. If I won cards that I wanted to keep, I didn't play them anymore. So, some of my cards did survive.
James.

Best two I ever had was an Eric Lindros super rare (x/24) and a M:TG Mox Jet. Ebayed both for over $300 US.
Speaking of worthless cards, anyone want to buy about 600 Ken Griffey Jr. 1989 Donruss RC's?

I have a Paul Coffey Rookie Card somewhere around here....
I have a few thousand cards laying around...just don't want to find them!
I have a feeling it will be just as much work when I dug out my Original NES system with 80 or so games....anyone know anyone that buys these things?
