I missed it the first time, but at the end there is the sound of a light saber being extended.. which is probably an inside joke for the collective boner that just erected itself across the internet.

I've been thinking about it a bit more... maybe its only 1 way of deploying it.
Maybe all 3 blades can be extended to the same length, would make for a very interesting weapon.
The way the two bits flare out at the sides, it makes me wonder if that was intended or not. It looks almost as if it was made by somebody who wasn't trained in how to properly construct a lightsabre and focus the crystal out of the hilt effectively, so there is a bit of leakage out the sides.
Guess they couldn't find the OEM round satellite dish for the top of the falcon after VI... went with an after market square one.
Just for kicks I hope the Falcon's satellite dish gets knocked off in every episode of this new trilogy.
Just before they cut away from the John Boyega scene I think you can hear the Hoth probe droid sound effect. That is my favorite sound effect in the whole series.

Agreed! I first fell in love with Star Wars because of the epic space battles so that scene along with the Falcon has pressed all the right buttons. The cross-hilt on the light saber looks incredibly stupid. I don't care though. Give me epic space battles and you'll get all my money.

That's a great sound for sure, but in a series where this sound exists, you are objectively wrong.

It's hard to judge much from a trailer though. It's hard to put yourself back in the moment, when it was released, knowing what the movie became and what you know about each scene featured.. but at the time The Phantom Menace had an incredible trailer.
In concept it's a well crafted trailer.
But in reality, too much Jar Jar. It still looks goofy, especially with the bad acting from child Anakin and his mom and the dumb looking/sounding droids. When I was 10 years old, yeah, that trailer blew me away, but as an adult now, I much prefer Abrams' approach in his trailer. He also knew just which visuals to feature to get all the collective fans' adrenaline pumping.
This gives the impression of a gritty western space opera again. What 1-3 should've been.
Best part is the notable real actors and sets used where they could. And looks like they put effort and precision into the computer effects. Half the prequels were a damn video game.
