Mamma went to Walmart and bought me one of them cheap Oiler jerseys to wear to school.
The only correct reaction when this happens is to ask God to send you right away a hundred million moths that would eat up your Edmonton Oilers sweater.

I'm no longer worried about the Oilers underacheiving their way to another high pick. The culture sucks and you can smell the oiler stink from here. They'll find ways to ruin whomever the "next one" is. Full tank Edmonton!!
From what I've seen so far, it would take a colossal level of incompetence to ruin a player like McDavid or Eichel - Oh wait...this is the Oilers we're talking about...

How true yet how sad, from an Oiler fan perspective anyway ....

No it wouldnt. Its actually not that hard.
Its like any person in any job, no matter how much you hate it if you're paid enough money the pain starts to numb and go away, but performance goes with it.

Oilers give 2 pts to Jets this week, and now appear frontrunner for top 2 draft pick again. The only good news is MacT press conference suggesting status quo. They play sharks soon and we need oilers to take a few points from Western playoff contenders.
I have no hope left that the OP's scenario is even possible.
Not that I really want to see the Oilers win, but I now believe the best case for Flames fans is that the Oilers loss the draft lottery, are told in no uncertain terms by Eichel he will not report to the Oilers and is willing to spend 4 years in college to avoid it. And then they pump the crap out of the wrong guy in the media so they can pat themselves on the back after picking him.
It seems so much more realistic than them going .500 and finishing 28th
It’s still possible that Buffalo, Carolina, or Columbus will manage to out-tank the Oilers, who then finish 29th with an excellent chance of picking third. Even Philly is getting into that territory now, with just one win in their last 10. Edmonton has to be the current favourite to finish last, but they have a lot of competition.
Back at the start of the season, when many CP posters were expecting the Flames to be in the McDavid sweepstakes, I predicted that half a dozen teams would be in full tank mode and it would be very hard to out-suck them all.
