I have assumed it's a safety issue. We don't want players trying to kick anything out there.

the simple answer is ask Clint Malarchuk what he thinks of skate blades kicking at a puck in the crease.

Great game, honda center result.

Carry that late play into the shark tank tomorrow, we got a win.

Sure would be better for my heart if we could have a lead for once though.

Hopefully Hartley was disgusted by that Engelland effort at the end of the second, and sits him for a while, he's awful. Hiller looked mentally out of it all game, bad rebounds and really slow movement. Hell of a lot of character with this group...

Hartley isn't going to be in the locker room after this game trying to rally the team behind Johnny's no-goal, he'll be telling them good job not quitting, but you need to play like that for 60 minutes not 20. They should be proud of getting back in it, Anaheim is a tough opponent. I'm not sure if we play in Anaheim again this year, but if we do, I think we will break the curse

At least the best defense pairing in the league added to their already amazing point totals.

And they're calling Suter the early Norris favourite.. hah.

Maybe I had the wrong tone there. Not blaming the refs at all - I agree it was a kicking motion. All I'm saying is the Flames ended up a bounce or two away from beating the top team in the league. And that's reason to be pleased, even with a loss.

No quit in this team whatsoever, and I love them for it. Pretty solid game overall by the Flames. If it weren't for that flukey first goal and Hiller's awful brain fart, the Flames might have actually won this game. Getzlaf and Perry are crazy good though. Flames had no answer for those guys all night.

F--- I hate the Honda Center.

It may be time for Hartley to crack the whip on their sluggish starts. Can't do it now, though because of the back to back.

I thought Sven had one of his best games yet. Really happy to see him get a bit more comfortable.

Love this team. Even with all our injuries I don't think Anaheim takes us lightly anymore. The curse will lift.. soon!

Love the no quit in this team! The slow starts are starting to catch up though. Flames need to get their marbles together in the 1st period. Consistently.

If I was a goalie I wouldn't want players purposely trying to kick a puck into the net if I was down on the ice.

Yeah, have to call that a kick - that wasn't why they lost, it was due to a bad goal and a lucky goal against, combined with an inability to finish on many chances in the first 50 minutes. Respect to Anderson though - he was outstanding tonight.

Yeah I know

He did get cut by a skate blade and having guys around the net kicking at pucks is a receipe for disaster.

All it takes is for a kicking skate to come down on someone.

All that puck had to do was touch the ANA defenders (non goalie) stick no matter how blatant the kick and would've counted under the new rules. So not sure how the "skates are sharp" excuse holds with that rule.

More unlucky, as it hit JG in the stomach and fell on to the top of his skate where the reaction is to have it hit off him. He moves his foot as he is somewhat tied up too.

Hey I fully support soccer players all wearing razor sharp blades on their feet. Would make the game more interesting. When guys go down you would be able to tell they are not faking it ( cause all of the blood around them ).

There is a reason kicking is not allowed in hockey. Although it could be very entertaining if they decide to start to allow it.

The Flames didn't have a sluggish start in this game. I thought the first few shifts they came out with plenty of jump. The lone Anaheim goal was a complete fluke and really didn't have anything to do with any lack of urgency on the Flames' part.
