Zero. We never "need" him. Great locker room guy, but way too slow for how we play. 4 minutes is surrendering to the other team for 4 minutes

I hope Flames keep him next year in some sort of role like Player development. No need for him to be on the roster but he definitely adds value to the organization. Maybe as a Fighting Coach (NHL first?)

This of course assumes he is comfortable hanging up the skates (mitts?) at the end of the season

He's actually pretty good on the forecheck and has been known to get a few shots off. But he is a limited minutes guy. That isn't a problem since Hartley treats his entire fourth line that way.

I personally hope we keep him to the end of his current contract and then get him a position with the team working with the players. He's just too important to the young players and the team in general as a personality to let him go.

Edit: or what tacopuck said

It's a person's name. Specifically, a Calgary Flames player and this is a fan forum devoted to the Calgary Flames.

It just shouldn't happen. McGrattan gets it the worst too.

I still don't get why it hurts anyone's feelings.

Who has hurt feelings? Pointing out that someone spelled a player's name wrong should be expected on a Flames forum.

No need to be so defensive, someone only pointed out the correct spelling.

Yeah please get the spelling right. It is quite impressive what he has done with Monohan.

I'd give him 6 mins per game (3 shifts / period).

Im sorry I hurt your feelings AC. I tried to make a relevant topic hoping to encourage discussion.. and a few people get so uptight it derails the thread immediately.

Thanks for adding great content to this discussion.

I say give him a position in the organization next year.

He can police the front office and make sure no trade rumors get leaked out to the press or public.

Loose lips will have to deal with McGrattan's wrath.

Team needs a "mad max" type figure to keep people in line (See Wolf of Wallstreet)

Again, no one has hurt feelings here. I only explained why a lot of us do care about spelling a player's name correctly.

I choose to believe we see a lot of McGratten and McGratton typos because people have paid to get a jersey customized and only noticed the mistake afterwards.

McGrattan has been on this team for quite a while, surely everyone should know how to spell his name. That's just my opinion.

The O and the A are at opposite ends of the keyboard and are typed with completely different fingers. How is this a typo?

It's a spelling mistake.

It's the difference between mispronouncing someone's name and calling them a completely different name.

I generally don't care about people's spelling on this board, but for me constantly misspelling someones name is disrespectful.

Case in point, Tom Erixon
