BREAKING: The @BCLions have relieved head coach Mike Benevides of his duties. Details to come. #CFL
I was not surprised of this firing. Benevides made a lot of boneheaded decision this season. He constantly challenged PI calls even when it is clearly going against his side. He also calls some plays that made me shake my head. A few season ago he survived even after losing the first few games..but at the same time he's got Travis Lulay that bailed him out. This season he wasn't so lucky. Fought some veterans like Dante Marsh.. not saying he was wrong about it but players tend to follow veteran players more than the coaches especially when you have a so-so team. Getting slapped by Montreal, a laughable team at the start of the season did him in. I am sure he'll re-surface somewhere as an assistant coach.

As goofy a guy as Jeff might be, there's no denying his effort level, his dedication to the game, and his leadership.

I'd hire Garcia over LaPolice, mainly because Garcia's ceiling might be worth more than LaPolice's floor.

As long as he won't be coaching Edmonton or Saskatchewan I guess I am okay with Jeff Garcia. I still like Wally Buono even though he is the GM of the rival team. I guess I can tolerate BC Lions a lot more than those two evil teams I mentioned. But I think Lapo will do well in BC as long as he brings some experience but young assistant coaches. I am sure he learned from his mistakes in Winnipeg.
