Yeesh, that belly turret musta been nerve racking to operate. Just like that one scene in the 'Memphis Belle'...

Was it at the airport this weekend? What was the occassion??

I dunno. My dad that is a B17 fan told me to go to the airport and take some photos for him. But it was cool to see.

Yeah i didnt know about it till sunday. I think my dad found out about it in the news or the paper.

I went and saw that too. It was amazing, I stood in the bomb bay and looked up at the bombs. That was something that makes you really think about history. The belly gunner would have had to be no more than 5'7" or he wouldn't fit! Imagine being in there on a rough or crash landing.
That thing wasn't even pressurized, the mid ship gunners had open windows (fitted with plexiglass now)

That's Betty Grable painted on the nose isn't it?

A few years ago, a B-17 was at the airport and I went to see it then. They had a Heinkel 111 as well.

I was in Florida near Cape Canaveral in November last year minding my own business driving along a two lane highway when a B-17 came over and landed at an airfield by the highway!!!

Damn... maybe it's because the Lethbridge Airshow is this weekend.
And I'm gonna miss it

Love those warbirds. I'd kill to watch a mustang do a fly-by.
