If you are under 60, most plans don't bother asking medical questions as you likely aren't on any medications.

Regardless, a travel policy is a policy just like any other. They gave you a copy of the wordings, yes? These booklets are generally written in layman terms and what is and isn't covered is clearly outlined.

So just for S&G's, I went and grabbed a copy of the policy wording we hand out to every client who takes out travel insurance through us. Flipping to the "General Exclusions" page is this part:

b) Childbirth, complications related to pregnancy or childbirth occurring within the nine weeks immediately before or after and including the expected date of delivery.

c) Medical Treatment incurred by a newborn child following the unexpected birth during your trip.

These are pretty standard wordings and not likely to be unique to our insurer. I'd imagine they are pretty common exclusions across the industry.

I'm a policy reader because I always think the insurance will find some loop hole not to pay. After reading several policies about 3 years ago I found Travel Underwriters to be the least restrictive, and therefore presumably the most likely to pay.

It's less likely to be a "loophole" so much as something that is clearly stated.

The policy wordings in my post above IS from Travel Underwriters.
