This is clearly not working in Edmonton.
Welcome to the year 2012.

I kind of feel sorry for their fans now.
I've never been able to understand how fans of one team could feel sorry for another teams' fans when that other team sucks.

Just don't get it.

Would I rather have the Battle of Alberta be intense, tight-matched close games? No, I wouldn't. I'd rather see the Flames embarrass the Oilers every game by 5-6 goals every game for the rest of their franchise lengths, if I could have it one way.

I'm very happy to have witnessed the Canucks go to the Cup finals twice and lose both times. Twice is enough though and too close to be honest. I'd prefer they never get close enough again to winning the cup.

I might be annoying in with this, I've been in lengthy debates about it before, but if a ref sees an obvious kicking motion in the crease the play should automatically be blown dead right away. It's one thing when guys are along the boards, shuffling their feet when two players are standing, but in the crease, with the goalie down, no kicking.

No I mean if it inadvertently hit him in the ass and bounced in. More of a direct response to the point that the goalie should only be expecting shots.

Fair enough. I never did think about the dangerous aspect of it, but at the same time, things are so frantic in those situations that they are kicking and thrashing anyway. I suppose though that if they knew it would count, they would probably kick more.

I was born in 1983. The only series between the two teams that I really got to witness was the 1991 series. I vaguely remember 1988. The 1989 cup run is the year I actually started kind of watching and understanding what is going on.

I see other rivalries like Boston Montreal span decades and every generation has had a chance to witness it, while the BOA died in 1991-92ish.

I guess I just want to be a part of it like my dad was in the 1980s.
