Giordano should be higher than 12. Since they're just basing it on this season, he should be #1.

Must be based on prior years, can't see anyone who knows anything about hockey putting Giordano out of the top 5 this year.
Bouwmwester 1pt in 18 games? And ranked above Brodie? Wow nice try ESPN!

We determined the best NHL defensemen by asking our panel of experts to rank each on a scale of 0 to 10 based on how they predict he will perform this season.

Nope.

It's not all about points, Bouw is an excellent defenseman. I agree though, Brodie is having a better season.
ESPN rankings are never very good in my opinion. I find they favour American teams a lot more.

There's a reason why ESBN sucks at anything ice hockey, their writers are a bunch of hicks, any sport north of the 48th should be banned from these idiots.

The defense rankings are an abomination but I will give them credit, they definitely got at least 1 coach ranking correct.
Hint: scroll to the bottom

Sutter at #1 is probably correct as well.

Yeah, nothing against Bouwmwester,he's a decent dman, but how does he play the minutes he has on that team and not gotten a few more points, that is more what I was trying to get at.

there's a lot of reputation voting on that list, but I mean ESPN doesn't even really have anyone to cover the sport, so what can we expect.

They have Brian Campbell ranked above Brodie. That's all you need to know about these rankings.

How about their 2013 ranking... he was unranked.
The P in ESPN stands for Poo.

I love Chara as a cornerstone player that any team would kill to have, but I don't know how anyone can have him ahead of Gio on this season alone. Especially since he's going to be out of commission for a few more weeks.
Just no.

Gio wasn't even in the rankings last year according to them.
Clearly there are not invested hockey people making those lists. Seems historically based and half-assed.
