Seriously, they don't get no respect.
Also they just spent 8 minutes talking about the leafs loss, while flames get 2 mins in that exciting win (they skipped gaudreau's beauty shootout goal too!)

Bennett is a star, no doubt about that in my mind. It'll be nice to have a team with forward momentum for him to join instead of a stale, confused situation where the organisation expects to be saved by the teenager coming in.

He didn't score here or anything, but it's plays like this that make me so excited about Gaudreau.
His play a few minutes earlier, like his weaving through the SJ defense, was unquestionably his pure natural ability coming though and maybe his move of the night, including the slick shootout Jokinen-esque goal.
It was the play where he went at the goalie from the side of the net, a quick, deft backhand fake as if he was going to shoot....that fake froze the goalie and made him straighten up ever so slightly...and what that straightening did was prevent him from pushing off to the other post.
What further sells that move is that he still looks to go short side on goalies through the game, and he did tonight...as mentioned on that goal where he scored from the tough angle over the goalies head, its likely from college goalies cheating off the post. In this case, he sets that up in the goalies head all game that he may go short side, then, in a move later in the game, fakes it to freeze the goalie and beat him around the net for the wrap around. It wasn't an obvious fake, and with his quick stick handling and speed, it didn't have to be, but it was enough for the goalie to think twice about pushing to the other side of the net, and that split second was all he needed. You can't teach that.

I have to think that is Hartley not giving them the option of feeling defeated. I'm sure Gio had something to say also.
With the way the team is playing I doubt they had to motivate much if at all. You think Gaudreau, Monahan, Jooris, Bouma, Byron or Brodie need motivation? They are buying in and don't need to be reminded. They haven't given up on a single game this year even when they played terribly.
Maher should have been given the chance to call the o/t.
He had a microphone in the owner's box and called "You can put it in the win column" and "yeah baby" at the end of the game.
He was spending time with his grand children and what looked to be old friends - I'm sure he was pretty happy where he was. Though I understand your sentiment.
I am in disbelief. I hope at game 82 I feel the same way.
I am not a huge Hartley fan, yet I can not deny the work ethic on the ice. He demands that his players play hard. Effort.
Happy for Hiller too! Final shootout player Perry, skilled shoutout guy big time! Hiller wagging his tongue as he starts to come in on the shootout. Classic.
As for Peter Maher, I am sure there was another " Yeah Baby " tonight, just not broadcasted on the radio. Legend will be missed!
They gave him the in-house mic right at the end of the game, for one final "you can put it in the win column. Yaaa Baby!" Was awesome.
