I remember in '04, the Flames lost a hard fought game to Philly in a shoot-out, but it was then I knew they were for real....not quite there yet, but if they can win in Anaheim....I'lll believe this is a team that can make a run.

So hey, advanced statonians. When are those 'stats gods' you profess your whole hearted belief to gonna step in, exactly?

Hmm?

I'm still waiting....

I mean, clearly none of this is real, because the stats say so.

Right?

...

Quite the evening. Great to see Maher get the recognition he deserves. He is a true class act.

I love that the team doesn't see excuses. They could have just mailed in the third period after they were dominated in the first two periods. I think many of the previous incarnations of the Flames would have. They were playing a great team and they were not icing a great lineup...but they had the will to win. That is something that can carry a team far in this league.

Plus...it's my birthday. The Flames gave me an awesome present.

Granlund has to stay. If you have to make a move for him to be a part of the lineup then you do it.

Bollig, Grats, Setoguchi.

Baertschi might get sent down, Ferland might just get sent down too. Other injuries might happen and none of this matters.

Just one small complaint right now: The PK has to get better. Would have been a different game if we had a better penalty kill.

My post from 11:13ET (between 2nd and 3rd)

Gio and Brodie have to be the best D pairing in the league.

Thought Smid didn't let the team miss Russell tonight. And that is saying something considering how well Russell has been playing and how important he is to this team.

Granlund, Jooris and Gaudreau all 100% belong here. Granlund showed up frickin Kesler tonight in the 2nd center spot.

Sven is close, and getting there, just needs a little bit more time.

I just got in from that spectacular game tonight. What a great way to celebrate Peter Maher night with the most exciting ending to a game in years.

Thank you for everything Peter Maher, I am glad the Flames were able to put it in the Win Column tonight for you.

He didn't score here or anything, but it's plays like this that make me so excited about Gaudreau.
Watching that all I could think of was "Were people on Calgarypuck actually critiquing his skating the other day."

They have been great all year but Brodie and Gio were phenomenal tonight. Special.
Gaudreau.....makes me laugh to recall all of the tempering of expectations that was going on here over the summer.

Monahan (20)
Granlund (21)
Backlund (25)

That's a pretty awesome looking, young group of two way centers the Flames are cultivating.

Bennett on the way too.
Jankowski ripening on the vine.
Arnold and Knight on the farm as well.

Going to have solid two way NHL centers coming out of our arses over the next few years.
