Once again Engelland was the loosest for sure, he even had Giordano laughing and bantering more than the last couple.

Devante Smith-Pelley and Patrick Maroon watched a fair bit of the Flames skate. Another Duck was out for a bit, not sure who it was, maybe Manson.

Maroon was pretty friendly with McGratton and Bollig. Monahan talked with Smith-Pelley.

There was a group of 5-6 older guys sitting down near the media, I asked Freeway who they were as I didn't recognize anyone. He said they were special guests friends of Peter Maher. Pretty cool. Saw Maher briefly, he recieved a kiss from CP's favourite media lady.

Back to the players...Hudler always seems to be having fun. He likes to interrupt the defensemen drills.

Glencross always has a long tip session with all the defense. He was quite excellent today. He was first off I think, injuries I assume. Glencross and Jones were last players to appear, again I assume treatment maybe.

Reinhart and Ferland received the extra work today, I think Diaz escaped it. They both skated very hard, from my amateur opinion Ferland looked ready.

Giordano again had some cannon shots from the point.

Today it looked like Gelinas was in charge. Hartley spent some quality time with Granlund.

After the PP units ran through some drills Gelinas had a talk with Gaudreau.

Near the end they have what I would call battle drills, or game simulations. Starts 1v1, then 2 F v 1D, then 2v2, then 3v2, lastly 3 more F come in to help the D. It has (for 3 skates) always started with Gaudreau vs Giordano. Usually the forward does not score, but today Gaudreau beat Giordano and the goalie while it was still 1v1. Good stuff.

I did not pay attention to the faceoffs, only caught a couple Jooris beating Bouma.

I think Mony and smith pelly are friends. From monahans instagram in the summer.

Surprising Flames pose difficult trip to Calgary for Ducks

After playing five straight overtime games and suffering a lopsided home defeat, the Anaheim Ducks are in need of a smooth victory.

Trips to Calgary have proved difficult in recent years, and the Flames team waiting for them Tuesday night isn't looking much like the Pacific Division pushovers they were a season ago.

Gotta take advantage of that third and fourth line to win.
Sure would be nice if the boys got a win for Pete

If flames win tonight... It would be soo cool for Peter Maher to be named the first star and have him come onto the ice and give a wave to the fans.

I'm kinda bummed - would love to be able to watch the game, but am camped just outside Nanaimo....in the land of the "not Flames"...at least according to the NHL. The whole arrangement about regional rights is just ticking me off - and has been for the last month because I've been on the road and only able to see "national" games.

Will listen to 960 - hope the boys do well and honour Peter with a W!

Watching highlights from the Senators game on the Sportsnet preshow right now... damn I would watch that Baertschi flip pass to Byron all day. So slick and smooth.

One of the amazing things about that play is that Jooris, after starting the play behind his own goal-line, is the third man to the Ottawa net, behind Byron and the back d-man.

Amazing speed and hustle.

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
#Flames D Kris Russell (undisclosed) is a surprise scratch against Ducks. D Raphael Diaz is in the lineup instead.
