Man, finished collecting the flames and got the 5 gold pack reward. What a pile of feces.
I got maybe a handful of nhlers with clutterbuck being the highest rated. What a waste of time.

And you can't even sell anything either. So stupid.
I really hate EA. Can 2K please save us?

You can pause during whistle breaks.

I know, it's stupid. What other game franchises allow pausing online? Nobody would be okay with pausing being allowed in Call of Duty or Battlefield.

You gotcha, yeah its a pain in the ass.
Especially when you have that one game where it gets paused 3-4 times in a row for no reason and each time they take the full time limit.

I'll pause during a play or whistle because I don't know what the shortcut button is to pull my goalie anymore.
Although to call a timeout you definitely need to pause during a stoppage.
It'd be a pipe dream but if the latest PS4 update for voice commands allowed you to perform the above, that'd be pretty slick

Pausing the game when playing online is my #1 pet peeve and has been for the last 8 years. It still boggles my mind that EA, a company that designed multiplayer Battlefield series (a game which you cannot pause and for good reason) allows you do to this in this game. What makes it even more frustrating is that on a 6vs6 online match, each player gets 1 pause each. Eff that. WHY WHY WHY??? I can understand the team captain getting 1 pause for a timeout. But everyone? It's bad enough having to wait a minute between periods for no reason other then for someone to take a piss or smoke a bowl.
Players quitting a game should be seamless. Instead, a player pauses the game to quit during the whistle and the pause activates and even as the player leaves, the game still has to countdown the entire 30 seconds before resuming play. It's something that is so easily fixable that it blows my mind that EA still allows it.

Because they don't care, people buy the product and they simply do not care one bit about what the consumer thinks. That's apparent in the quality.
It's like a restaurant where the food is consistently low quality because the employees do not have pride in their work. Whether it's bad management, lazy staff or an overall toxic atmosphere it's clear whatever studio is creating the game just does not care about the consumer. Of course pausing shouldn't be allowed online, that's not the point, they just don't care.
I'm hoping this years sales divebombed, they fire the management and bring in someone who will work late hours because they have too much pride to let a stinking pile of junk have their name on it.

Stay between the puck and the net and have an active stick when they show the puck. Also try to close the gap without overcommitting when they go over the blue line. Doing the whole big loop and go for a hit almost never works.

The more time I spend with this game, the more I find it to be terrible. Buggy!

i've realized the secret. It hit me as i was beating someone 3-0 and they stopped playing (game continued). I realized it is damn near impossible to pock the puck off a player that has the puck. I took a penalty more often than actually poking the puck away (it is an interesting experiment, that shows you just how brutal EA is and why folks need to be laid off). Anyways, i no longer even switch to playing a dman once the opposition gets the puck. i simply take control of the nearest forward and backcheck and just play zone in the middle slot. only switch control to d if they forward is about to get behind the d. This works most of the time, as the cpu d have better luck at laying out a hit or poke check.
I'm 8-3 since taking this approach. I wish i wasn't such a hockey fiend, as instead of having to play thru this (and whine about it) i'd rather just burn the game.

Not meant as an insult, but you'll get worked as you progress through the divisions if you maintain this style of play.
Learn how to defend. It's not broken, it just takes a while to get good at playing D.

I'm in div 5 or 6 and so far unbeaten.
That being said, you're probably 100% right. I just can't do much against figure skaters that just try to deke their way right in on goal. can't hit, poke check/good position do ok, but fail at least once a period, so still gives up at least a goal or so a game.

Man, the jump from Division 7 to Division 6 is huge. I am getting my ass kicked every game so far. And it probably doesn't help that apparently everybody but me has an all star team.

I'm in div 4 almost in div 3 once I play a couple more games. The poke checks works really well but you have to aim it to make sure you take the puck. Your body is also useful of defence if you can keep yourself between the puck and the net and dont let guys come in down low in the corners.

I've also found your line up is important. Dont put 1/2 line guys on the pk. If you can balance your lines well you will find you have more energy and will be faster.
