Default Random tablet/Windows 8 question

I have a Surface pro 3 running windows 8.1 Sometimes when I put it to sleep for a while and wake it up the screen will be super white for an extra couple seconds then go back to normal.

Is this normal for tablets/laptops on windows 8 or is this thing slightly defective and I should swap it out while under the 14 days?

Try turning off automatic brightness adjustment. Same thing happened with my Lenovo X1.

Good place to ask this about my SPro 3:

Despite what I set my Power and Sleep options to, my screen turns off after 5 idle minutes, which, annoyingly, includes 5 minutes watching a YouTube clip without otherwise interacting.

Anyone have a similar problem? And any ideas on how to resolve it?

Did you make sure you have the most up to date firmware?

I am using Intel drivers instead of the windows drivers on my surface 3 and although there is a bit more battery usage the performance difference on photoshop is considerably better.

I do not have a white screen flash when I start up, but that could be related to a program you have running on the desktop like facebook or similar.

For the youtube screen turning off issue are you using the metro app the metro browser or just the desktop browser?

I watch netflix on the metro browser (because the netflix app uses double the battery) and I never have the screen turn off during videos. Again this could be because i am using the Intel drivers.

Re the turning off issues, turns out that watching through a desktop browser solves the issue. I was watching through the metro browser previously.

Never had an issue with Netflix through the Netflix app
