Awesome win by the Calgary Flames. It is a total team effort and I really enjoy watching this team play. I think aside from Smid-Engelland adventures (i think they were on 2 or even all Ottawa's goal) but aside from that, they were okay.

That Baerschi-Jooris-Byron line been flying in the last two games. Bouma, Jooris and Byron had a monster game and the speed of this line is just phenomenal. Even players who didn't have a lot of ice time tonight Reinhart, Bollig and the injured David Jones I thought made a good contribution to this game. I can't say enough about the Giordano-Brodie tandem. They seem to know where the other guy is all the time. Russell-Wideman tandem quietly did their job tonight. Pretty awesome that we have 4 mobile defensemen who can make long passes and always willing to create offense. I love the speed on the forward and they can make plays and even score too. I think we will only be dissappointed when the Flames get healthy again because Jooris, Granlund, Baerschi, Reinhart and Ferland will have to go back to the AHL sometime in the future.

Well, better than half the teams in the west. So the better western teams are relevant. I think the real question is - are they better than Edmonton, Columbus, Winnipeg, Arizona, Nashville, Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota?

That assist from Baertschi gets him atleast a handful more games with the Flames. Showed his potential on that one.

^ Brodie and Gio are a combined +18, meanwhile in Edmonton they're a combined -26 (Keith Aulie is a +4!).

I'd bet on at least one of Calgary,Van or Winnipeg regressing to being out of the playoffs and Chicago and one other team in from your list getting in. I like our chances a lot with a hot start. Especially as we've played a couple of long road trips already.

*Canucks only have a +1 goal differential BTW. I don't see them staying this high in the standings for much longer.

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a mutha####ing duck.

This team is for real and I'm so sick of idiots who can't recognize a quality hockey team if it slapped them in the face.

I'm flabbergasted at those comments.
Going by goal differential it looks like Minnesota and Chicago will displace Vancouver and San Jose. I have a feeling we will be battling the later two for the last wild card spot. If we can keep up our play all year. This means beating the Canucks for once......

Talking about playing the more difficult teams in the West, I'm not saying we did super well last season, and I'd like to think we're improved, but we did beat all the teams at least once in our division and most within the conference, I believe Vancouver is the only western team we didn't register a victory against last season. We took two of three from Chicago and won 3 of 5 vs. LA last season, we beat Anaheim only once, Sharks once, STL once, even if we can't get a winning record against the Vancouvers and Anaheims of the world, hopefully we can beat up on the Oilers, get some wins out of Dallas and San Jose and Arizona, do a little better against the East, and BOOM, we're in!

Good team win, like was said. Jooris, Byron, Bouma and Granlund had great games, and so did Brodie and Gio. Monahan and Jones played well at both ends. Johnny wasn't bad, had some really good passes in the 2nd period, but this was not his best. Hudler couldn't finish well - not a great game for him. Sven was great in the 1st but not as noticeable in the later stages. Russell and Wideman were fine. Some tough moments for Englelland and Smid, but some good as well. Typical Glencross - a non factor for most of the game, then a dynamite play to set up a goal. Bollig wasn't a liability like before. Reinhart wasn't given much. Ramo was good, though I just like Hiller's calm style better.

Edmonton<Arizona<Colorado<Dallas<San Jose<Minnesota<Winnipeg<Nashville<Calgary</=Vancouver<Chicago<L.A.<St. Louis<Anaheim

That's the way I see the teams right now. I think we are legitimately the 6th best team in this conference, and definitely no worse than 8th.

Why? Pretty safe to say he's earned a spot.

He being...? I say Jooris and Granlund have done it. Sven will too, if he keeps going.

Solid effort from Ramo, I think we will see him again soon.

Great game by the kids again. Hartley is magical, sign him already.

Ramo has earned a 2nd consecutive start. Caught sleeping on Ryan's goal but other than that, solid.

Jooris is legit. Great find by Treliving. Not surprising Jones is hurt again so there's a spot. Shame, because he was looking pretty good the last few games.
