Meh, my aunt and uncle have what I would call a garage cat. I still like the idea TBH, but the escape attempts would drive me nuts.

We agreed to foster these two semi feral kittens until they were socialized enough to be adopted. 17 years later we have an old, grumpy cat (his brother died last year) who craps and pees everywhere, preferably in shoes. Can we in good concience say we've done our part? (The outfit we got them from folded years ago)

That is incredibly gross that you are letting an animal relieve himself in your house and on your clothes. You've done your part and then gone a little overboard. Do you generally keep a neat, clean house with the exception of the animal that defecates around your home? I just can't imagine living like that.

It's just the cat, and usually in the same place. Your shoes are fair game if left there .But yes, gross as anything.

It might help if you could post pictures of this living room garage...

Living on a farm and having a feral cat that you feed so it sticks around is a little different than chaining a cat in your garage and living in the city.
It would attempt to escape because its imprisoned in your garage.
I can open my front door, take out the garbage and come back and my cats will be more than 5 ft back from the door sitting happily.

Now even though you're developmentally quite slow, with repeated lessons you've learned to minimally function in society... same idea applies to dumb dogs and repeated lessons (aka training techniques).
edit: removed analogy about learning disabled kids, you'd have missed the point again anyways.

I laugh every time I see "Old Yeller" as the last poster in this thread about killing your pets.

Equating pets to humans is so ridiculous, regardless of the argument.

Normally I agree, it's a stretch, but I'm just trying to reason with the guy that brains in animals work much the same way they do in humans.
edit: Why am I trying to reason with Sliver... I don't know.

So is equating Sliver to humans, yet people still try. Totally pointless.

You have to take Sliver for what he is. He's been banned here before for trolling, came back, kept up the schtick and now straddles the line to amuse himself. He's almost admitted as much in other threads, saying he enjoys trolling, or getting people riled up, said it was funny and entertainment. Sometimes he makes me laugh, sometimes he's annoying, but you gotta hand it to him for reigning in the crazy and being able to find a niche between sanity and being banned again.
The line about saving himself for his large audience debut had me literally laughing out loud. I mean, come on, how can anyone take this as anything but humour?
