These games where it should be 2 points in the past have been games the Flames always lose, hopefully that trend is over. Is there anyone on the Coyotes with no goals? If there is we might as well spot them one to start.

Somehow Ribeiro is going to score a goal all the way from Nashville.

At this stage, I'm not sure if hanging out with Barry Bonds and Jose Canseco would give him the chemistry he needs to be successful.

I don't mind Jones. Reason he gets hurt so much is because he plays so hard. Plus its nice having his salary to keep us above the cap floor, even when he's hurt and letting a rookie shine in his spot.

Problem with Jones is he doesn't play hard, because he always gets injured when he is playing a style that equals success for him. It's so frustrating watching him play timid after coming back from injury. I would rather him play 30 games playing his heart out than 70 games with him floating around.

Ramo would have better finish then Setoguchi.
Is Ramo a right handed shot?

Looks like a Hiller vs. Smith matchup tonight. #ARIvsCGY

#Flames left-winger Sven Baertschi said he lost four pounds being sick, dehydrated. Couldn’t do anything for four or five days.

Sven lost 4 pounds? Great, maybe he will skate faster now.
He will need his speed if he is to keep up with his linemate Setoguchi

The Calgary Flames have played just six games at the Scotiabank Saddledome this season but they will play five of their next eight games at home. The team is looking to get into a groove at the Dome, starting tonight against the Arizona Coyotes.
"Consistency, that's the most important thing," Bob Hartley said of the team's five-game homestand. "We have our own identity but at the same time, I think we have to send a message to the League, like who we are at the Saddledome. We have great fans. It's time for us to step up."
|
Quote:
"We've got to simplify things, get that north-south game going at home,"
Mark Giordano stated. "We don't have the record we want but in saying that, we've played some pretty good games here that we haven't gotten the results in.
"More of that simple mindset that we've had on the road - find ways to win games and try to keep it simple."
|
Quote:
David Jones (sick) did not skate this morning and will be a game-time decision. If he is unable to play, Devin Setoguchi will get back into the lineup.
"The medical staff talked with Jonesy this morning. He's resting at home," Hartley said. "He didn't come to the rink. I don't have any updates but he's going to be a game-time decision."
|
Quote:
Sven Baertschi was forced out of Monday's game in Raleigh as he dealt with a virus but the 22-year-old has recovered and is ready to go tonight.
"I got really dehydrated," he said. "My body just needed so much more water, I couldn't keep up with it. I lost about four pounds but I got it back in a day. Yesterday, I was drinking tons of water and ate a little extra food and tons of vitamins. I gained four pounds from yesterday to today so that's huge for me."
The winger has been held pointless in his four games with the Flames this season but Baertschi feels his game has been on the upswing the past couple of outings.
"Since I got back here, I tried to simplify my game - get more shots on net instead of always looking for passes. I felt like the last few games, because of that, I think we've created something offensively.
"I think I've got to stick with that."
|
Quote:
"It's always good to get back and play in your own place. I feel that with home ice advantage, you get a little bit more jump. I think that's going to help us in this five-game homestand." - Johnny Gaudreau on the C of Red

I thought he's played pretty hard since coming back, he's one of the few forwards that will drive to the net with the puck. I don't think he's been timid at all, in fact, this is some of the more aggressive hockey he's played since coming to Calgary.
Plus, he might miss tonight because of the flu, not because he's injured.

Went to the practice today with Calgaryboy.
Some impressions:
Giordano can shoot. Awesome display.
Hartley seems to have a great time, all the time.
Coach spent much time talking to Reinhart.
One of the nicest goals was Bollig from McGratton.
Wideman rarely took slapshots, all other defensmen were.
Diaz, Setoguchi, Bollig and Ferland got worked hard after main group left.
Ferland was hurting, conditioning wise.
Coaches worked Diaz hard after. Impressed with how hard he did all they asked.
One of the Flames nearly killed me. Calgaryboy wanted to show me a picture he took, I look down and BANG! One meter away puck smashes into the seats. I look up, whole bunch of Flames looking our way. Nota Bena: keep eyes on ice.
Had a nice short conversation with Ferland. Said he is 100%, just needs to get back into game shape. Zero problems from concussion. Very respectful and thankful that I wanted to talk to him. Maybe he shot the puck at me earlier and felt bad.
I was going to mention who the last guy to come out for practice was...and who was the first to leave; but there could be many reasons for it, so I decide now to leave it alone.

Aside from being a RH shot, it looks like the Flames want a guy screening the goalie and trying to tip shots/get garbage goals. Setoguchi hasn't been getting the job done, but looking at who the Flames have utilized thus far in the season and the corresponding sizes, it has either been him (6'4"), Jones (6'2"), Glencross (6'1") or Colborne (6'5"). Unless they want to try Bollig and McGrattan, these are probably the best bets to screen a goalie. With Colborne out, and Jones looking like he is out as well, seems like Seto wins by default.
At this point in time, I am almost willing for the Flames to try Bollig or McGrattan on the 2nd unit PP in that spot (with Glencross on the 1st unit). Neither can probably tip the puck as well as Seto, but Seto also hasn't scored anyways. Those two may be able to screen the goalie better than Setoguchi! I just imagine zone entries on the PP would be much easier to defend using those two, and racing for the puck in the corners would probably result in more clearings
Seto FTW!
(I can't wait until Colborne returns!)

No bueno RT @Russostrib: #mnwild's Scandella & Brodin may have the mumps; Sources say #NHL officials affected, too http://strib.mn/1v94czd
Add to this tweet the other tweets yesterday about the ducks. And it would seems the mumps will be running through the NHL this season.
Hopefully this is not what Sven and Jones have/had.

Wait, since when did Setoguchi grow 3.5-4"?
