I hate to see the kid not be available for the WJC. I would love to see him in that tourney. It was an accident but also a pretty indicator that the top guys should not be fighting.

Wrist and hand injuries are notoriously slow to heal and really impact one's grip on the chin up bar...

The only way he might avoid being drafted by the Oilers is if the Knights of the Round Table chopped his arms off. Even then they'd probably still take him thinking it's a minor flesh wound.

I guess he saw that the flames weren't going to be drafting top 10 so he wants to drop a few draft spots to match up.

If I were his agent, I wouldn't be hating this.
He's going top two. In all likelihood number one, unless Eichel just demolishes the world juniors. A hand injury will heal and he'll be no worse for wear. The only thing that could move him out of the top two is a serious career threatening injury at this point. Not playing now greatly reduces that risk.
